I have just got tickets for this festival and I can really recommend to all of you!!! This is the third year I'll be going, I'm hoping to book the same lovely apartment in Poble Nou (just two metro stops from the festival site) and I'm so exciting I'm bouncing in my seat and making my colleagues fear for my sanity!

this year they have teamed up with All Tomorrow's Parties and part of the line up has been announced for the ATP stage. ATP itself is quite expensive this year and has moved from Camber to some other location so I'll be giving that a miss but Primavera is just FANTASTIC. Barcelona is an AMAZING city and coz the bands don't start until 4 or 5pm (and continue to 4 or 5am) there is plenty of time to explore the city, go up to Parc Guell or Sagrada Familia or laze on the beach beforehand.

Comets on Fire have just been confirmed. No, me neither, but Steve here in the office tells me that they are leading lights in the whole big new psychedelia thing. Lots of sprawling guitars. Their main man, Ben Chasny, apparently records solo as Six Organs of Admittance.

Oh, oh, I am so excited about seeing Durutti Column again!!! It's been too long (Edinburgh, 1999 as part of Labradford's Second Festival of Drifting). I was playing Without Mercy last night. It's one of my fave pieces of music EVER. Doubt if Vini & co would ever tackle it live tho (or certainly not the whole thing) but I CAN DREAM!

Am really looking forward to this... have just booked my flights (exciting!)!

Can anyone tell me, how far from the centre (placa catalunya/ramblas etc...) is the festival site? Would you advise getting a hotel/apartment closer to the festival, or is it pretty walkable from these kind of areas? Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent site for apartments/offer some recommendations it'd be appreciated.

I can't wait to see how the line-up shapes up, is looking great (albeit scant, obviously) so far.

the best way to get from the centre (Placa Catalunya, top of the Ramblas, which is where buses from the airport stop) is by metro.

babyshambles not playing -- they played last yr and were so boring one of our number said "let's see what's happening on the other stage" and through that we discovered the 29-strong bundle of Swedish kazzo-toting joy that is I'm from Barcelona!

it won't be too boiling to enjoy - it will be just right.
