Packaging - the good, the bad, the ugly

Philadelphia cream cheese in a box: really annoying, bad packaging. But I couldn't bring myself to pay more than a dollar more for a plastic tub of cream cheese.

Quaker oats in the round cardboard tube: bad packaging - you can't pour it out without getting oats everywhere.

Bananas: great packaging, although peels bruise.

Packaging pet peeves and praise here.

Hurrah for compostable cornplastic packaging!

Those packaging peanuts you can eat and that decompose -- great.

A huge box with a little box in it with a padded envelope in it and a tiny thing in that (like how an SD card recently came to me): dud

No way, these are perfect for measuring cups to scoop into.

Oh shit!!! I am in LOVE with that stuff; I get it for like $1.35 in Chinatown and then LOL thinking abt all the ppl that spend like $8 for agar flakes at Whole Foods.

i liked the way the above was put together - no plastic, just 6 or so slices of card with holes cut in them put together as a block. the hanger slides in and out. the band that holds it all together slots in and locks (with a simple barb).

Aye, Sennheiser have some awesome Eco packaging.

I cannot stand Styrofoam and I have no idea why it's still in use in some areas. The big packs of Eggland's Best come in the Styrofoam packaging, I wish it would all come in recyclable plastic as the EB 6-packs do.

I'm also sick to death of those plastic packages with the bubble tabs. You're supposed to be able to open them easy but the sides are usually sealed down.

I loathe those Eco-Keep Cases on recent DVD releases because they are very easy to dent up and rip. I don't see how they are an improvement. The Amaray cases were perfectly fine, held up well and were recyclable to begin with.

The sound of styrofoam squeaking is my least favorite sound.

english eggs have come in papier mache cartons since time began. back in the day you'd take the cartons back to the grocer and they'd refill them.
