OK, seriously - they're making a Young Hannibal Lecter movie?

I just stumbled upon a commercial for this...it looks TERRIBLE.

Leave the character alone. Just LEAVE HIM ALONE.

The Young Hannibal Lecter Chronicles

Well, in all fairness, the horrible-looking movie is based on the recently-released Thomas Harris book (the reviews of which have been amazingly horrendous)!

very suspicious of both the movie and the book

Does he get to go and eat young Sherlock Holmes?

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 19 January 2007 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

Young Watson was beefier.

Maybe a two'fer then?

Dude's going to have some serious weight issues.

Plus he's too young to drink Chianti, we assume.

This looks BAD.

I've never seen Red Dragon, I'm presuming that's pretty bad too.

You know I actually liked Hannibal (the movie). Giancarlo Giannini is great.

It's AWFUL. There's a whole bunch of extra DO YOU SEE???? psychological bits thrown in that were never in the original film, or in the book. It's so rubbish.

I can't see how this film could be anything but awful, unless it becomes a Billy Elliott-style musical.

Cannibal: the Musical 2: Hannibal: the Musical

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 January 2007 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

three weeks pass...
They should use that in the commercial instead of that "SCARIEST SINCE SILENCE" pullquote from BillyWitchDoctor Dot Com.

Red Dragon wasn't bad, but that's mostly because the cast is great. It probably is a bit DO YOU SEE, but what isn't?

Li'l Hannibal Saturday morning cartoon please.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Friday, 9 February 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

five years pass...

I complained about the sequels in a year-end once, how they'd devolved into camp. (I know, "Put the lotion in the basket"--that was always there to a degree. But I still think Silence is pretty intense.) The prequel goes in the opposite direction, and wow, is it every dreary.

Well there's a TV series coming that is set before Red Dragon so maybe that'll be good. ahem.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Sunday, 15 July 2012 03:22 (thirteen years ago)

literally the only thing i remember from red dragon is when someone (i guess edward norton?) says to hannibal "we don't have much time!" and hannibal says "i do. i have oodles." as camp that was probably worth the evening.
