and yeah, ;__; is kinda glib i guess -- esp. if it's about something unfortunate happening to someone that you actually KNOW. if it's someone that you don't actually know (e.g., when james brown died) or about something that kinda sucks but isn't of earth-shattering importance (e.g., the saints losing to the bears) or something "bad" that you're really kinda happy did happen (e.g., the patriots losing to the colts), then it's as good as any emoticon i think!
