Dammit, Bill, this is my play!

Yes I am excited. Download the schematics of the building to my cell and let's get going.

FYI: 24 - Season 6

Unless you want this to be a UK friendly spoiler-free thread or something...

Tiki Theater Xymposium (Bent Over at the Arclight), Sunday, 21 January 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

That was the idea, I don't dare look at the other thread.

chap (chap), Sunday, 21 January 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

I am being teh excited! I'll be there in 30 minutes (cut to 24 clock showing only 29 minutes to end of episode)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 21 January 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

Haha, I just about shattered my windows with a "OMG that's Stephen Merchant!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!" moment. Wayne Palmer as President? Milo's back? Chloe's not-at-all-gay husband has a job at CTU? Bill and Karen = Tony and Michelle?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

Jack=thinks he's back in Lost Boys.

chap (chap), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

Ooh, this is why I like it! Too bad it's Sean Austin, not Corey Feldman.

Urrrggghhh.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 21 January 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

(Ok, I just realized, I might be seeing a different season...)

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 21 January 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

Nice to see Jack's found a buddy who's just as into torturing as him.

(I think you're on Day 5, Nathalie)

chap (chap), Sunday, 21 January 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

Revive for brits to use as a spoiler free day 7 thread, seeing as I think the yanks are a bit ahead of us now. Doesn't seem worth starting a whole new thread.

chap, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

That's a good idea. I'm with you. We'll try and keep it going past the first episode this time.

I had forgotten about Stephen Merchant's random cameo appearnance.

ailsa, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

Do not like new president too much, she seems very hard and calculating, even about dead son, which is probably 24 subtle signposting to her Being A Bad Person And Involved In A Conspiracy. Actually I don't like any fictional presidents that aren't written by Aaron Sorkin, so that's hardly surprising.

However, Janeane Garofalo as nu-Chloe is good casting, and new FBI potential will-he-won't-he-no-he-won't-because-Jack-is-too-badass-for-romance "love interest" seems non-annoying. As opposed to Look At Me I Am Bad Man Tony Almeida.

ailsa, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 22:04 (seventeen years ago)

I'm enjoying how the FBI are just really fucking useless. I hope they come up with a genuine good reason for Tony to have gone to the dark side, at least better than 'boo hoo, my wife is dead'.

I'd forgotten the Merchant thing too. I never actually got to see all of Day 6 because of the whole Murdoch/Branson thing.

chap, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

I don't think Tony has properly gone to the dark side, you know.

ailsa, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

well look in the last episode when he tortures and finally kills that chick i think we know he's gone over pretty proper, guys

shook pwns (omar little), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 22:42 (seventeen years ago)

I was starting to write off this season as luckluster, but the last ten minutes of that episode got the pulse going in vintage 24 style. Bah, looks like I'm hooked again.

chap, Monday, 26 January 2009 22:47 (sixteen years ago)

OMG THEY BURIED RENEE!

I spent most of the episode being cross at Hillinger's wife for calling him ON A SECURE FBI LINE to go "oh, did you break every rule in the world to get my plane down, oh and btw, top FBI intel dude, there are still planes in a holding pattern and being grounded one by one all over the US due to a major security alert which I know all about since I was just caught up in it, can't you just leave work early and nip home so we can have a quiet dinner?"

ailsa, Monday, 26 January 2009 23:02 (sixteen years ago)

I can't stop laughing at how the ex CTU members are now the Impossible Missions Force.

Mr Raif, Monday, 26 January 2009 23:23 (sixteen years ago)

I love how Jack's voice always goes two hundred percent gruffer when he's pretending to be evil.

chap, Tuesday, 27 January 2009 15:24 (sixteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

It's getting to that time of day when Jack starts carjacking random members of the public...

chap, Monday, 16 February 2009 21:48 (sixteen years ago)

I love how important people implicitly trust Jack with 5 seconds of him explaining why he's just done random bad-ass things just because he calls them "sir" while he's doing it.

ailsa, Monday, 16 February 2009 21:51 (sixteen years ago)

"With all due respect..."

chap, Monday, 16 February 2009 22:03 (sixteen years ago)

So they've gone for the double bluff with shifty looking obvious traitor actually being the traitor. What's happened to Tony? I can't remember.

I'm enjoying it well enough this year, it's certainly more no-nonsense than day 6. But there've been few truly startling or exciting moments so far.

chap, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:10 (sixteen years ago)

Just caught up on the last couple of weeks. Aaron Pierce! Morris! Chloe + Janice vortex of cynical superiority complexes and disdainful sneering!

I'm still WTFing at the death of 200+ people in a mid-air plane crash caused by terrorists a couple of hours previous not causing any sort of disruption in DC.

ailsa, Wednesday, 25 February 2009 23:27 (sixteen years ago)

Love how this series is turning into 'Grand Theft Auto: 24'. Good stuff between Jack and Renee in this ep too.

Mr Raif, Monday, 2 March 2009 22:44 (sixteen years ago)

This was the most ludicrous, and thus the most enjoyable, episode so far. Tony showing up the end with OH NO MORE TERRORISTS was hilarious. It was a nice touch that Dubaku seemed to genuinely love his girlfriend (can't blame him, she was gorgeous).

chap, Monday, 2 March 2009 22:56 (sixteen years ago)

Hell yeah, this is more like it. Chuckled at Juma's men having a large and very helpful picture of the White House amongst their evil terrorist documents.

chap, Monday, 9 March 2009 23:32 (sixteen years ago)

Prez Taylor is annoying me. She's rubbish at being both a liberal and a conservative.

chap, Monday, 9 March 2009 23:39 (sixteen years ago)

The White House plans looked like they were printed from google image search.

Loved how Bill tried as diplomatically as possible to say,'I'm your friend Jack but you're a crazy motherfucker'.

Mr Raif, Monday, 9 March 2009 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

: /

and how (omar little), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 05:09 (sixteen years ago)

four weeks pass...

This has been consistently good fun since the White House siege, and at the moment I'm really intrigued as to how Jack will escape being killed by mad cow disease. I like that there's a proper Bond style villain's base, though Voight could do with notching down the ham just a wee bit.

I really don't like the president. I'm maybe being a bit unfair to her though, as I'm working my way through the final BSG series and can't help but compare her to the magnificent Laura Roslin.

chap, Tuesday, 7 April 2009 11:34 (sixteen years ago)

four months pass...

So did anyone watch this till the end? I went on holiday for three weeks during it (probably just after my last post), and couldn't be bothered to catch up at all when I got back. Unless someone tells me this series ended amazingly, I've probably lost interest in the doings of Jack Bauer.

chap, Thursday, 27 August 2009 20:13 (sixteen years ago)

I did. It wasn't great. Ending = meh set up for the next series. And Kim came back.

ailsa, Thursday, 27 August 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

Mountain lion in tow?

chap, Thursday, 27 August 2009 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

Baby! And husband! She did manage to get herself in mild peril at an airport when it turned out her assigned bodyguard was a right bad 'un.

(note, at an airport, with all flights fully operational despite two planes being crashed in mid-air sometime within the previous 24 hours. Continuity right out the window this series.)
