the pairs figure skating judging was allegedly(by some frivolous reports) rigged by the french and russian judges, the russians win the pairs while they conspire to have the french win the female singles. that said the canadians skated like they were in a jazzercise course while the russians, although having made a few errors, were mesmerising in their performance.

Seemed tedious to me, like most Russian-trained skaters. Technically good, but sorta dull.

Issue isn't who skated better or who won, which is exactly the problem. We should be discussing the skating and it's merits.

The issue is the appearance that the judging was rigged and that it didn't actually matter what the participants did, apart from a complete-breakdown-fall-on-their-ass-and-smash-into-the-boards fall, that the judges had already decided that the Russians were going to win.

That some people think the Canadians or the Russians skated better on that evening is a matter of opinion. That the judges arranged beforehand the Russians were going to win is appearing to be a matter of fact.

The really sad thing is that the medal results were not based upon what happened on the ice.

Well Canada will get the gold and I'm happy about it. One of the judges were dropped. I say fair enough.

It was the ice dance, not the ladies' event, that was supposed to be thrown to the French. That's tonight, if you're curious.

Jayne Torville said it was a fix... And she should know. She's worn skimpy.
