I got a letter in the post the other week, from a charitable organisation I do volunteer work for occasionally. Both the letter and the enclosed SAE for the paperwork they wanted were stamped with stamps from the mid-70s.

Because you're dreamin' if you think I'm really going to wait in line to buy something from the cashier when I go just walk over to the vending machine.

Maybe when the Gerald Ford stamps come out next year.

Marvel Super Heroes
Marvel Super Heroes will save the day when they arrive in July. The 10 stamps on a pane of 20 depict Captain America, Elektra, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Sub-Mariner, The Incredible Hulk, The Thing and Wolverine.

The other 10 stamps depict classic Marvel Comic book covers linked to the super heroes. Information about the artwork shown on each stamp appears on the back on the stamp pane.

Jury Duty
In September, the Postal Service calls attention to the importance of jury service, a cornerstone of democracy in the United States.

The U.S. Constitution guarantees citizens charged in criminal cases the right to trial by a jury of their peers. In civil cases, the jury manifests the conscience of the community, ruling for either of the opposing parties in a dispute. The Jury Duty stamp image presents a diverse group of 12 representative jurors in silhouette.

sounds ... exciting

xpost x 7

p.p. i have befriended my postman, he delivers to me the stamps that i desire. too, a good post office in nlr is the one by the police station/library/senior citizen's compound. no lines!

ai lien (kold_krush), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

!!! My postman doesn't even take my outgoing every time.

I got my passport at that Post Office. It is nice and old school though the vending machines will rip you off after hours.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I envy Americans the fact that their post people take away the outgoing mail. Here, they will only collect it from boxes, and you have to go to the box to post it. I don't get enough post anymore, which is a shame. I love post.

WOW. ALL THAT & THE LIGHTS OF BROADWAY TOO.

Actually, my local vending machine did stock the ones with the old jalopy cars on them. I still bought the flag ones.
