TOM Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion.

The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.

And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.

A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure.

“Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.”

Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the ’80s. Leader L Ron Hubbard claimed humans bear traces of an ancient alien civilisation.

I'm sorry, the words "vampire belt" are inspiring some really goth red tent imagery.

Uh, vampire belt, I hate to tell you this but I think you're in the wrong forum altogether. See, all of us, regardless of our immense differences? Yeah, we're basically of the "can't live without music" persuasion. If we're without our music for several hours, we feel like dying. So yeah, definitely "ok music at all times?? how about thinking?" is not something you can ask around here and still expect to get anywhere around here.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 02:52 (eighteen years ago)

no, sometimes i agree with vampire belts. i hate the black boxes in the corners of the room, all the time with their dangdangy danging. but i hate putting plastic into my ears even more, i always feel like i'm going to get hit by a bus or something.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 02:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm in a no-music phase right now. Haven't listened to much of anything in about 7-10 days.

I am/was just asking to learn form other people experiences. I know "podding" became part of most in the wealthy computerized world, I still am asking WHY?? what is so great about it???

vampire belt (carequito), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 03:53 (eighteen years ago)

It's this thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)

I don't use those earbuds that came with my iPod. I kinda feel guilty about doing this, but I plugged in my favorite pair of $5 regular headphones instead. I hate earbuds because they never stay in my ears and because they usually end up hurting my ears, but headphones are so comfy to me that I can wear them for hours and hours. And they do let in more external sounds than do the earbuds.

As for why I personally love having an iPod: Well, the whole novelty value of actually having quite a sizeable amount of music easily within reach is nice, as is being able to listen to it virtually wherever one is. I can fit it (and those headphones) into my purse so I really don't leave home without it, plus it allows me to be able to more easily sate any sudden "OMG I have to listen to [certain song]" urges I get, which happen to me almost all the time.

Though I am at a loss as to how anyone can go without listening to music for even three or four days. Even at my most "couldn't care less" periods about music, I have to listen to at least five songs.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

I have periods where I don't listen to music for days at a time. My therapist calls it "major depression."
