=== temporary username === (Mark C), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

Entire Email: Hmmm. I am trying to replace the c.v. that the site links to with an
updated version. I don't see any way to do that. I also want to add a link
to my complete list of publications. How? And this is just for starters...

I should document how many customers scream abuse at me because nowhere in our T&Cs does it bother to tell clients on a 3 year contract that they only actually have a 1 year warranty on their (very very expensive ie $1000+) satellite modems.

Fuck I hate this job.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)

their (very very expensive ie $1000+) satellite modems.

Are these bidirectional or do they require dialup still?

UART variations (ex machina), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 23:14 (eighteen years ago)

No they are two-way (they're L1nkStars), so they have an Rx and Tx coax cable running from the dish into the unit then the unit has ethernet out to a pc or router (cos they dont do any routing).

They're pretty crappy units considerning how much they cost (v loud fan, power supply that seems to blow way too easily etc) :( It makes my job really irritating.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

Y'can do up to 10mb/sec on these babies though, its pretty cool (but that sort of speed costs like woah)

I'm just sending out my CV to recruitment agencies, maybe I should put my bosoms of note/underwear lack requirements on there.

8am: unlock office
8.05: take accounting server down for hardware maintenance
8.55: accounting server finally up again, maintenance unsuccessful
8.59: get phone calls from people complaining they've not been told the accounting server was back up, even though I already emailed telling everyone it would be working by 9am.
9.30: "My email isn't working"
9.35: "My email still isn't working, why haven't you done anything about it?"
9.45: "I've looked at your connectivity and there aren't any problems - can you try connecting again?" "oh, yes, it's working now."
