i just got an email from a close friend, saying that one of her friends needs to give away a 7 mo. old black and white cocker spaniel puppy, which will go to the pound if a home isn't found quickly. i don't know the circumstances leading up to this, although having seen it happen a lot i assume it's due to a housing issue or to the person's inability to cope with a pet rather than the dog being untrainable/mean/stupid/etc. i have a nosy landlord and a no pets clause in the lease, so i can't help out. i thought it would be worth posting here to see if anyone happens to be looking for a pet or knows someone who would be interested. fostering might even be a possibility. thanks, guys.

Maybe the Cocker Spaniel Rescue folks can help.

eight months pass...
[Admin: This is a hoax --see below]

so, these little ones were found in the middle of the street by some good samaritans who unfortunately can't keep them much longer. many no-kill shelters have been contacted, but everyone is at or above capacity and cannot take new dogs at the moment. if anyone can adopt or even foster, or knows someone who can, please get in touch!

i've been wanting to foster but i have the same prob of never being home. also dogs aren't allowed in my building. i'll ask around though.

several thousand miles too far away to be much help, but let us know if/when there's a place to donate for their feeding and care

oh man. I think I could foster, but sometimes they don't want you to have another dog already. plus i have no crate.

I just read somewhere that this is a hoax. Strange.

WTF? Is it a hoax or not? If it's not a hoax, I've been asking around and the ASPCA always takes puppies and usually has no trouble adopting them out (assuming they don't have serious behavior problems). If it is a hoax, and I assume that Lauren P was roped in, than someone has a really unfunny sense of humor.

hmmm... that is very weird! this didn't come from a totally random source, so i don't know what's going on.

lauren, Sunday, 30 September 2007 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

ok, there is apparently a semi-famous hoax about golden retriever puppies that will be put down if they're not adopted but i didn't see anything recent involving lab mix puppies.

lauren, Sunday, 30 September 2007 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, someone posted this morning on a local board I read about lab puppies found in a box with the same shelter situation. About 20 people responded saying they had similar emails this week and the poster kept insiting that her friend's mom had the puppies at her house etc. I just checked back and she edited the post to say that she found out it was an email hoax forwarded by her friend's mom. So, I don't know but this does sound kind of similar. I kind of hope it is because if it's real, it's too sad!

ENBB, Sunday, 30 September 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah that sounds fishy. Well, can't say that the hoax was totally original...

Yeah, I just checked back and someone linked to another post with a pic of the same puppies only these were supposedly found in Boston.

ENBB, Sunday, 30 September 2007 12:13 (eighteen years ago)

oh, balls. stuff like this is SO pointless. well, i'm glad it's cleared up in any case. sorry for the confusion!

lauren, Sunday, 30 September 2007 12:22 (eighteen years ago)

Well, it's good to know that pics of puppies will mobilize people immediately!
