the miniature ones that came in boxes, not the lame "fresh baked" ones they peddle today. discontinued foods can feel like a betrayal, sometimes.

i'll stick with plain old maryland cookies.

BASKIN ROBBINS' VALLEY FORGE FUDGE, I MISS YUO!!

do i have to draw you a diaphragm (Rock Hardy), Friday, 26 January 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

ooh, that stuff was good.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 26 January 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

In my experience, "fresh baked" usually means "undercooked" as far as the mighty cookie is concerned. And I hate that. Truly.

Je4nn3 Fuhfuh (Je4nne Fury), Friday, 26 January 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

the mcdonaldland cookies weren't bad, either.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 26 January 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

those are the ones I miss - even though they all tasted the same, grimace was my favorite.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 26 January 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

JF OTM! EVERYONE OTM

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

when did they stop selling them?

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

I miss the old apple pies with the crunchy fried crust!! Damn them for pretending the new ones are "healthier".

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

I was trying to find a fast food wiki (on wikia) and found this:

UART variations (ex machina), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

the apple pies were responsible for charring the roof of my mouth on more than one occasion. I miss that feeling.

lk (lawrence kansas), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

Did anyone see scrubs last night? Turk burned his mouth with pizza bites!

UART variations (ex machina), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)

I do that every time I eat those things. Either they are lukewarm or the inside is so hot that I burn my tongue.

Also, now I'm missing the cookies and hot apple pies, too. I blame ILX!

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

You can still get fried apple pies at a few places: http://www.ccytsao.com/friedapplepie.htm

luna (luna.c), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

None in Minnesota. I'm not sure I can persuade my husband that this is worth a road trip...

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

these are GONE? i used to eat them all the time as a kid. they were DEELISH

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Friday, 26 January 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

Taco bell apple empanadas are pretty damn close.

I always feel bad that no one mourns the loss of the McDonald's fried cherry pie. Apple's such a fucking nostalgia-slut.

I also miss: 7-Up Gold, Snapple sodas, cherry/orange Nerds, Sir Shake-a-Lot, and the Shamrock Shake (I know it's still available some places, but it hasn't been available to me in a long time).

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

And the Priazzo.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

dude, i always got the cherry version

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

Mmmmm the fried cherry pies were good, too. Let's face it, though; I am willing to feel nostalgia for almost anything fried. (As long as it doesn't involve fish)..

Shamrock Shakes! Do they really not make them every year anymore? Where have I been?

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

and now that i've been reminded about it, i do miss it :(
xpost

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

I only got it at night, which made sense when I was a kid but, come to think of it, not at all in this sentence.

I wonder if any of those fried apple pie holdovers have the cherry one.

xpost; yeah, the last three times I asked about Shamrock Shakes, the cashier had never even heard of them. They're offered some places, but they haven't been standard since the 90s.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

The choc chip cookies were indeed good, but Famous Amos stuff is similar and, IMO, better.

Chesty Joe Morgan (Chesty Joe Morgan), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

i do not think the point is really about "better"!

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

the hunt for shamrock

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

they dont do the cherry or apple pie anymore either? i never go to McD so i cant keep up with their offerings

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

See, there you go. Man, I haven't had one since before they started doing these "triple thick" shakes.

xpost; they do pie, but the apple pie has been baked since the early 90s (except for ... the exceptions). Not sure they do cherry pie at all now.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

I went in to McDonald's one day and wanted a chocolate soft serve ice cream cone. No longer available, just the shakes. SO not the same thing!

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

Motherfuckers! Do they still do the strawberry sundaes? (I haven't been to McDonald's in a year or two.)

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

I did discover that the local Dairy Queen has chocolate soft serve ice cream, so at least there's that...

I don't know about the strawberry sundaes. Believe it or not, I rarely go to McDonald's anymore. When I do it is usually for the kids. I just get some French fries and call it good.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah the strawberry sundaes are still there, still jamming. I like chocolate too but they have to give me double fudge.

ps. the fried egg roll apple pies were great fuck mcdonalds

tremendoid (tremendoid), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

In a town with a Sonic, nobody needs a McDonald's sundae. HAW!

do i have to draw you a diaphragm (Rock Hardy), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

they make em fried in Duarte, CA!!!! I'm there after work, seriously.

tremendoid (tremendoid), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, no Sonic here either. Wait, lemme check.

McDonalds in China all have the fried apple pie, in my experience. I am still missing my chili cheese burritos, that Taco Bell took away. :(

ALLAH FROG (Sleepy), Saturday, 27 January 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, it's at the McDonald's inside the Walmart (that's where i get them, too.) I can't remember if they have cherry or not, though.

I can still get Shamrock Shakes near my house, but last year when I had one, it tasted sort of like Tums.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 27 January 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, but they're green.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 27 January 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, but I have Tums at home! And a green marker!

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 27 January 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

I will pay you eleven dollars to color a vanilla shake green with your magic marker.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 27 January 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry my man, the price went up.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 27 January 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 27 January 2007 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

thankfully, keebler fudge stripes have yet to be phased out.

Every time this thread comes back to the top of the New Answers board, my hips get a little wider. And I'm starting not to care.
