stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:42 (eighteen years ago)

how hard is it to learn html tags? and it's fun; you're writing in "code", ooh

back in my day all we had were html tags, we made do with and some quotation marks, and yeah, our fingers hurt from the extra typing strain, but we accepted it, it made us stronger, better, we had an edge. there was also this thing called "view -> (page) source" - and in it were all the answers to our questions.

quick question...why was that parsing code removed?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)

I tried ihttp, and it worked for that pic. Hasn't it always been so that ihttp doesn't work for pics above a certain size, so you have to use img src for them?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

it seems to only work with pictures of dudes with moustaches or goatees.

SO GLAD someone finally started this thread.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 10:48 (eighteen years ago)

It's not a size thing. I had problems even with small pictures (see halfway down this thread: Snowballs have flown their arcs).

Sir Tehrance HoBB (the pirate king), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe it's a density thing?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 10:59 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah people are too dense to use img src.

onimo (onimo), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

B-but-but it takes a lot longer to type!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:34 (eighteen years ago)

It might help if it didn't say "ihttp works" in the FAQ.

31g (31g), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:41 (eighteen years ago)

It does work though

Tom D. (Dada), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:42 (eighteen years ago)

you are a gambling man

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 12:07 (eighteen years ago)

It's never not worked for me

Tom D. (Dada), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 12:08 (eighteen years ago)

I did not know ihttp works. But I have my image tags turned off so all imgs show up as links.

(and I do know html quite well but as someone who's doing it all day the i shortcut here is nice.)

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

It seems to depend of the hosting site.

What is that horrible thing up there that looks like two big toes that have grown mouths and sharp little teeth? Because I think I am going to have terrible nightmares forever and I'd like to know exactly what caused it, so I can tell my therapist.

Also, if you use firefox, this plug-in will solve all your HTML needs for you: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/491/

jennyjennyjenny (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

it depends entirely on size of image, image host, etc etc etc as to whether or not ihttp will work. SO JUST DO THE SAFE THING AND USE IMG SRC, LET'S BE COOL

Allyzay doesnt get into the monkeys or vindications (allyzay), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

jenny OTM, Firefox users are dumm if they don't use BBCodeXtra or Xinha or something like that.

do i have to draw you a diaphragm (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

but why do you need to do html editing IN firefox?

I use the web developer toolbar which does plenty.

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

lol at "bbcode"

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

usually when you're posting an image, it's a punchline, it's time-sensitive, it's usually half-relevant--

do you really want to take the chance that your image will not post?

that's why we have created IMG SRC, a failsafe method of posting pics, free of charge, right here on ILX.

enjoy!

onimo (onimo), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

There's probably something in the context that causes ihttp to work or not work. E.g., too much or too little whitespace, other text on the same line, odd characters in the URL, etc.. Someone should post the source of a working ihttp at RAFB for comparison .

A knife to his wife Eve and his credibility. (goodbra), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

The only good thing about ihttp was that it would set the image size in the html, but i don't think that happens

UART variations (ex machina), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:56 (eighteen years ago)

Also, BBCode is the worst thing ever.

UART variations (ex machina), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

fuck an 'img src'

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

i don't have 'images on' anyway so it's not a big deal if it fucks up (not that it ever does for me at least)

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

why doesn't it work? It used to work. maybe it will work again one day.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

I also don't have images on so I don't care if my links work for you, the masses, or not!

who cares who cares

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

using Ilx any other way is madness, really.
