Did anyone see Crime and Punishment on BBC2 last night? What did you think? I was pretty impressed.

And they did the axe in the head bit very well!

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

completely forgot it was on, I was watching Iam Wright being a bushman, it was surprisingly good, especially when he was shitting himself.

chris, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It clashed with Footballers Wives which thoroughly examined the issues of Crime and Punishment as poor Tanya had to watch Frank come out of his coma and hope desperately that he didn't remember it WAS HER WHAT DONE IT, and then of course there was Jason who was punished for his attacks on Biagi by being stuck on the bench and not allowed to play ever again.

Emma, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pah, Footballer's Wives is like Asti Spumante to the champagne of Dream Team. What the hell has happened to Claudia - is she dead or alive? I can't wait until Sunday to find out goddammitt!

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Unfortunately I think Claudia is dead in the bath, shame really, so long as her flatmate is still alright though, she's lovely.

Poor poor peggsy, at least Fletch finally tried to do the right thing though.

I'm willing to lay bets that Jonnie and I are the only Dream Team watchers on this here beeyotch.

chris, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How did she get in the bath? I think she's just lying in a pool of her own blood on the floor.

As for Peggsy, well, he did let that money go to his head a bit (literally, given his downfall) and having Fletch as his agent was a bad move. I think you might be correct regarding the ratio of ile posters to dream team watchers though.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dream Team sounds rubbish. Although this could be sour grapes cos we don't have Sky.

Emma, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Emma, I fear that Dream team may well be Footballers wives for blokes in that there is more footy action. But I bet Footballer's wives hasn't featured the scorer of the cup final winning goal being murdered by a sniper on the lap of honour eh? eh? Or Stefan Dennis?

chris, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't it make you feel good?

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to watch Dream Team back in the glory days of John Black and Luis Amor. John Black.........now THERE was a defender you could trust.

As one of those annoying "the film's never as good as the book" purists, after watching Crime and Punishment last night I was forced to eat my hat. I think the BBC should be congratulated on putting out such a quality piece of drama at prime viewing time. Unlike watching a West Ham game, I was held spellbound for the full ninety minutes, and it didn't cost me thirty-two quid, neither. And Petrovich exhibited a deftness of touch that rivalled Cole and Di Canio combined.

Trevor, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

West Ham should sign Luis Amor Rodriguez, he'd be a perfect foil for Defoe, it'd take a good package to lure him back from Argentina though.

chris, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was good wasn't it Trevor? I'm not a huge fan of John Simm but I thought he was excellent and the whole thing was pretty similar to my reading of the book.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh bugger! I didn't see this thread before starting t'other one!

Emma OTM, of course.

Does anyone else think that Frank KNOWS that his 'accident' was all Tanya's fault and is just pretending not to so he can bide his time and wreak terrifying vengeance on her and Jason? And Jason's manager - he's a bit tasty innit? Better than the footballers themselves I thought.

Emma, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes Jonnie, in places it was virtually identical to the visual images conjured up by the novel. It was a very Dostoevskian dramatisation, because it gave the impression of a man whose nerve endings were stretched taut as piano wires, which is exactly how Raskolnikov should be portrayed. The scenes between him and Petrovich were a delight - the way Petrovich draws him into the open was very well realised. I can't wait for the second installment tonight. I'll even sacrifice seeing the end of England vs. Holland. *GASP*

Trevor, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going that far but I will be looking forward to seeing the second part if my flatmate remembers to video it.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I watched Dream Team the other week when there was nothing else on. It seemed vaguely entertaining.

MILWAUKIE -- A Southeast Portland man is facing several criminal charges stemming from what police are calling a "one-person crime spree" last month in Milwaukie.

Mark David Siebenmorgen, 46, is being held in the Clackamas County Jail, with bail set at $75,000. He was arraigned Wednesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court on charges of assault, menacing, harassment and criminal mischief.

Officer Ulli Neitch, Milwaukie police spokeswoman, said a man shoved another man to the ground without warning at the downtown Milwaukie bus mall around 9:35 p.m. Oct. 21.

Twenty minutes later, a man was reported flailing his arms and flexing his muscles as he jumped on the hood of a car parked near St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Southeast 25th Avenue and Washington Street -- while a driver was behind the wheel. The man kicked and shattered the windshield before running away.

At 10:26 p.m., a man burst from the bushes and confronted a woman behind Milwaukie Market Place, 108 S.E. Oak St. As the woman walked away, the man threw rocks at her, striking her in the neck.

Police used a tracking dog but were unable to find the suspect.

The following day, employees of the Safeway store, Southeast 42nd Avenue and King Road, called police to report unsettling comments made by a customer.

Police then identified Siebenmorgen as the suspect and arrested him at his Southeast Portland apartment.
