ReadPlease is free, with four different computery-voices.

When I used to work at a college's disability services department, we had a program called Kurzweil (either 3000 or 1000) that would read text aloud, and since it was on the college's dime, we could afford the really good voices. If you have access to a university computer lab, they might have it avaiable for use.

Ideally, computer text-to-speech programs should read all text in a comical music-hall Irish brogue, pronounce "fine" as "foin" and substitute "lovely" for all instances of "good".

i don't know if these are any good but the disability section uses something called Screenreader, not sure if its still going.

The manufacturer 'Texthelp' did a few packages like this.
