Yeah, that'll look good.

President George W Bush has approved a Pentagon plan for a command centre for Africa to oversee US military activities on the continent.

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the new base, Africa Command, would allow the US to better co-ordinate action and counter potential threats.

Mr Gates said the Pentagon would consult the US Congress and others about the plans.

Africa Command would be America's fifth regional operations base.

Responsibility for Africa operations is currently divided among three regional commands.

considering the huge presence, diplomatic and otherwise, that the chinese have been building in africa, this doesn't seem all that bad to me, if it is part of closer relationships with host countries.

also considering, you know, rwanda and shit. boots on the ground, man.

I'm not saying there's no good strategic/realpolitik reasons for it, I just question the ability of this administration to handle it with any sort of sense.

Well, we got reserves of like 10 extra guys sitting around, so they can run the place.

i don't even think it's good JUST strategically/realpolitikky. getting closer to Africa is exactly what we should have done like centuries ago.

ned at this point you can look at the weather and say "i question this administration's ability to turn on its windshield wipers"
