OK are there even record stores in Las Vegas? Maybe if you go to the outskirts and hang around the campus?

I mean, to be really blunt with you, if you want to see good musicians playing in small clubs and go to good record stores, I think what you want to do is NOT go to Las Vegas.

Just went to Vegas last week. If you like good rock music (though kinda mainstream) i can recommend Club Revolution at the Mirage. No bands but as far as clubs go it's pretty cool. It's Beatles themed and the DJ there was super. He mixed Paperback Writer into a Last Night (The Strokes tune) into Mr. Jones and back to Paperback Writer. They have these super hot ladies paid to dance. If your wife isn't down with that there is a Piano Bar right next door.

heh....NOT going to just record shop or club. i do intend to see a show and gamble a little too...

just as curious about the other things as i am whenever i go anywhere.

Big B's on Maryland Pkwy. is pretty good. Haven't shopped there in years, but between that and the various Record Citys you should be in good shape.

If you're into thrifting, Las Vegas has the best thrift stores on the continent. Start with the Savers chain and work down from there.

I imagine there would be good CD shopping at pawn shops, right?

Not at Savers, in my experience, but they have hella awesome '70s coats, at least the ones in AZ and NM.

Las Vegas, NM, is home of the state's mental institution...I imangine there are a lot less buffets and Sephora's there.

"My dad and I are going alone to Vegas for my birthday. This is the email he sent"

"What kind of food is your pleasure for your birthday dinner?

Seafood, French, Italian, Other?

Roasted Rat?

I don’t think reservations are a problem, but it’s good to be sure!

And here is another option! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Nevada. Nevada is the one and only state with legalized brothels (still illegal in the county that Las Vegas is in, but OK in nearby counties)! Here’s a personal tour video of one close to Las Vegas … http://vodpod.com/watch/920933-chicken-ranch-brothel-near-las-vegas

I’ll just wait patiently.

You know the old saying … What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas …

Looking forward to this time together!

Dad"

Dude wasn't sure how much kidding (if any) was going on. Updates etc, if it happens.

Las Vegas is really fun! They had a Prince impersonator at my hotel. The thrift stores were great, really clean, but I couldn't bring any furniture home. Also their radio station the Jewel is the best.
