Oh, that's a shame. He was a lot older than I thought he was.

Tom D. (Dada), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

God he was terrific as Francis Urqhart.

chap (chap), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:27 (eighteen years ago)

he was Sam Lowry's boss in Brazil too!

StanM (StanM), Friday, 9 February 2007 11:55 (eighteen years ago)

He was brilliant in Private Schulz.

You might say that... I couldn't possibly comment.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 9 February 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

Great actor, great roles. My first encounter with his work was the Caedmon recording of selections from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe -- what a command of his voice and how to use it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 9 February 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

I found his Francis Urqhart a bit too hammy, but maybe that was the way the role was written. He's terrific in Tinker Tailor Solider Spy.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 9 February 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

Re: Tinker, absolutely. And also Porterhouse Blue. "Murder Rooms" was great lightweight fun, too.

He's terrific in Tinker Tailor Solider Spy.

Second thing I thought of. Need to dig that out again.

"Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?"

:(

Such a voice!

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 9 February 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

:(

I just saw him in Bleak House

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 9 February 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

He was the voice of Death in 'Hogfather' on Sky One.

He was also... Martin Landau's butler in B.A.P.S.

Tiki Theater Xymposium (Bent Over at the Arclight), Friday, 9 February 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, Urqhart's completely supposed to be hammy, the whole trilogy is a high-class melodrama.
