Let's talk about payday, because it is such a joyous thing.

How often do you get paid - weekly, biweekly, monthly?

What do you do when you get paid? Has it all already been spent before it comes in, or do are you wise and pay the bills and save a bit? Or do you just go out and BLOW IT ALL IN ONE SHOP, MWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!

God, I love payday.

Monthly. Save lots - boring, but I AM boring.

I find it much more difficult to save when I'm getting paid monthly. Because I do kind of get into the bad pattern of splurging the first week you get paid, then getting really thin towards the end. But I do manage to keep a base level of savings.

that said, I'm slightly worried because I've not had any bills in a while. Which means they're getting ready to spring on me.

monthly, which sucks but it's how I was paid while teaching so I'm kind of used to it now after 4 years or so.

I try not to splurge at the beginning but it's hard when all of a sudden you have a lot of cash. My spulrging is usually limited to a basket-filling trip to target, a big trip to the fabric/craft store and maybe a yarn order. It could be worse.

I run my own business, so for me it's nonstop invoicing throughout the month + waiting for people to pay up.

I was going to be one of those annoying people who just put lyrics as an answer, but I'll give you a link instead: Payday is the Best Day

weekly, on wednesdays. sometimes they pay me more than i have actually earned. i think it's something to do with taxable earnings and/or nat insurance contributions, but i am very glad that they have someone who sorts this all out for me so i don't have to think about it.

Ha ha we are the department who sort out payday for everyone else. You can tell what time of the month it is by how popular/unpopular some of my colleagues are.

Especially when they database reveals that THEY ARE LYING and they are not owed the commission they think they are. Mwah hah hah.

For Production Manager duties, monthly. For the design/prepress work, bimonthly (the frequency of the magazine).

On the 5th and the 20th, which is annoying because the bills fall on the 1st and the 15th. It's tough not to spend what has to be set aside, so I end up paying everything in advance which also irks me.

Jaq, Friday, 23 February 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I need to sort out my bill payments better, because I always get paid on the 25th and the mortgage comes out on the 10th, so it's just halfway through and confuses me as to how much money I really have.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 23 February 2007 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

Kate, set up an automatic payment into your savings account once a month, then you can't splurge it. Easy.

I get paid monthly, on the second last working day of the month. Which is Tuesday. Which sucks.

Madchen, Friday, 23 February 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

payday doesn't mean much to me these days as i'm quite tight with my cash and so have abundant amounts of dosh in my bank all the time. This will be coming to an end this year when I squander it all on myself with holidays/video game machines/bmx parts/computer parts

It comes monthly, 20th of every month, so just had a top up.

My mum-in-law thinks she's bipolar cause she gets really freaky 'manic' excited happy fun go good time----------------on PAYDAY every fortnight. Considering she is a psychiatric diagnostician type-gal I am disappointed. (But I think she's trying to get my goat too).

Back in the day when I was realllllly stupid w/dollars and cents, payday meant theday my automatic deposit would change my account from -$342 in oversraft fees to about $6.27 positive balance. 96 tears!

Having now, as I do, a working class stylee job, I am paid biweekly. This helps immensely, by speednig up the refresh cycle for recalling why I report to work each day.

Aimless, Friday, 23 February 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

Monthly (this is a salary plus a commission). I can't wait till the first of March. :-D
