Der Golem (Henrik Galeen, Paul Wegener)

I was going to list this until I remembered Les Vampires.

C0L1N B..., Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

I get the feeling if I see Les Vampires it would make the list. But this game is crazy and unsatisfying anyway.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:27 (nineteen years ago)

Actually now that I think about it, I haven't seen the first Golem, I was thinking about the 1920 version also Wegener (Der Golem: Wie er in die welt kam). I was under the impression that the 1915 version was lost...

C0L1N B..., Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

Oops I think you're right. It's the 1920 versh that I've seen.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

00s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
90s Crumb
80s Full Metal Jacket
70s Ali - Fear Eats the Soul
60s High and Low

30s Vampyr
20s Sunrise
pass on 1910s and 1900s

I know, that was what I was thinking when it was proposed on a different MB. It really has a way of conservatizing one's top 10.

Well I kinda deliberately picked a couple of "lesser" films because of that, but I could make 2 dozen or more of these lists and be equally (un)happy with them. Except I don't remember much that I've seen from pre-1920, and I couldn't think of anything I wanted to choose from the 2000s except, perhaps, the Kill Bill movies and I've got no great desire to open up that conversation. I guess the biggest omission from my first list, for me, is Buñuel.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 24 February 2007 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

10's Broken Blossoms
20's Napoleon
30's Earth
40's Day of Wrath
50's Hiroshima Mon Amour
60's L'avventura
70's Chinatown
80's Blue Velvet
90's Chunking Express
00's Mulholland Drive

i couldnt really decide on 20's, 50's, 60's or 70's
