Also, Sonny Landham(he played Billy, the native american guy with the Elvis accent) was the one who ran for governor of Kentucky(as a Republican) in 2002. He later ran for senate. More info.

love Bill Duke, even his salvaging of a bad role on one of the worst and tonally awful Battlestar Galactica episodes.

I haven’t seen A Rage in Harlem or Deep Cover, though I remember them coming out and being reviewed on Siskel and Ebert and whatever. Worth a look?

Hoodlum is a solid gangster flick, sort of a b-movie version of The Cotton Club (w/Fishburne playing the same character in both.) Pretty pulpy and entertaining, lots of great scenery-chewing acting.

His debut directorial feature (1985) will be streaming in revival mode

The Killing Floor was made for American Playhouse on PBS, so it has a fairly flat TV look compared to Duke's best theatrical films, but it's a rough story of unions, terrorism, and attempted integration, in the Chicago stockyards of 1917-20 of all places. Solid performances by veteran actors like Moses Gunn and Mary Alice.
