Sleuth
Some tittering in cinema.

Enchanted.
OK, the general idea for the movie isn't bad, but the scene with the heavy black woman bus driver stomping out of her coach (with earthquake soundfx, no less) to scare the crap out of the hitherto fearless prince - well, racially problematic doesn't begin to cover it.

Southland Tales sounded interesting when I heard about it, but the trailer is so genuinely terrible it's kind of amazing.
― musically, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)
I loved the Enchanted trailer and can't wait for the movie, but I agree...that part was too cliche. Uh oh, angry black lady!!!
― musically, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)
Southland Tales looks like it just might be a big enough clusterfuck to go full circle and be awesome.
― en i see kay, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)
the trailer makes it looks like freejack 2, why would a trailer do that
― ☪, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)
Alternatively, it's so bad it's gone past good and back to bad again. The reviews are almost entirely negative. Roger Ebert's was truly something to behold.

"Shrooms!"
― Mark G, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)
The Enchanted trailer looks generally awful to me but I'm probably not its target audience.
― Sundar, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)
I quite liked the Shrooms one. I also like that someone from Empire magazine got to say "Like x [in this case Blair Witch] on acid" about it and for it actually to be a justified comment.
― Alba, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)
Dear god that "sleuth" looks awful.

The "You have to play by the rules"/"Whose rules?"/"Mine!" exchange! Ouch. Even worse when you're in the cinema with big speakers and the "Whose rules?" is all bassy and even more ridiculous.
― Alba, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)
Well, it looked like a bad trailer for a good film. If that makes sense.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, it does. Though I disagree.
― Alba, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)
The review I saw was like "wow, the script is great but bou is this a film for actors to go OTT in or wot?"
― Mark G, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 10:21 (eighteen years ago)
The "You have to play by the rules"/"Whose rules?"/"Mine!" exchange!
oh man, that's class dialogue.
― Ste, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 10:31 (eighteen years ago)
I meant to mention this a while ago, and the thing is out now, but dear God, PS I Love You looks awful.
― Alba, Monday, 7 January 2008 12:29 (eighteen years ago)
i have to admit that the I Am Legend trailer doesn't do the film any justice, I had to drag my mates to the flicks to see this after them being convinced it looked shit from the ad. They both loved the film afterwards.
― Ste, Monday, 7 January 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)
the film four promo for i am legend called will smith "the fresh prince of the apocalypse" which is totally unfair but hee hee

Surely they mean "Like Blair Witch on mushrooms"
― Chewshabadoo, Monday, 7 January 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)
I had to leave the cinema when the PS I love You trailer was on yesterday. Truly wrong.
Oh an the In The Valley Of Elah trailer seems to consist of lots is disparate lines strung into a conversation which makes no sense, and does not scan. But then the trailer is just of list of how many Ocars its protagonists already have (and they won't get any more from this one...)
― Pete, Monday, 7 January 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)
ron howard saying he used the same helicopter pilots who actually flew nixon away from the white house in 1974 (or whenever) to play themselves doing the same in 'frost/nixon'.
who gives a flying fuck?
