From a thread on the sandbox:
It's half-way into the thread -- 50 posts from the start, 50 from the end. Because you can't have per-user settings on how many posts to show, the default has to be something reasonable. Showing the first 50 posts lets googlers or people new to the thread decide if the want to read all of it.

The link needs to be way more prominent, however, and will be. There will also be a link at the top, to save you hunting around for it when you want the whole thread.

That feature automatically reads the whole thread, removes the posts which aren't funny enough, and puts them into the 'skipped message' folder. It's targetting me a lot of the time.

Also please to make it default back to the place it's positioned in rather than jumping up the top of the thread again meaning you have to skim back through 50 messages you've read or remember the time/date of the last post you read before clicking?

When it'll be changed, could also make it jump to the first of the skipped messages when you click on the link? 'Cause now clicking it throws you back to the beginning of the thread.
