Al Gore not walking the walk...

The opposition will have a field day with this :(! Who can blame them though, it is fairly hypocritical to be espousing environmental change without reducing one's carbon footprint.

That makes me wonder how much he uses compared to the average 20-room mansion, rather than compared to average households in general. Sheesh, 20 rooms. Hope he has his whole family living with him, hah.

woooops!

They're having their feild day alright - there's a bunch of links here...

It's a neat tactic - slag off the messenger and the message (which stands no matter how many a/c units Gore has going) gets lost.

b-b-but Øystein that would be a comparison that actually helps us see how Gore's family manages its energy consumption relative to comparable households, and that would never do

I don't see why anyone would need a 20 room mansion unless you have 20 family members living there.

I don't see why anyone would need a 20 room mansion unless you have 20 family members living there.

but then somebody's bedroom would have to be the kitchen, somebody else's would have to double as the bathroom. actually you'd probably need more than one bathroom in a house that big. my word, it's a logistical nightmare.

blueski, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

There's a whole load of freepers bitching about the hollywood liberalagentsia (or whatever they're calling them this week) carbon footprint on oscar night. Suddenly they're concerned about people's consumption. Gore's job is done.

Why the need to have a house, you can just live in a cave. I mean, really, it's all relative. Have more money and your standards will go up.

Re the electricity bill. Well, yes, it's an argument you can have. But I'm wondering how much he spends in comparison with other 20 room mansions.?

nathalie, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 13:17 (nineteen years ago)

for all they know Gore uses only sustainably resourced candles in his huge lair and insists on all guests doing the same.

blueski, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 13:20 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe he lives with about a thousand people in said house.

"WTF! Who lives with so many people in such a small house!"

nathalie, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 13:22 (nineteen years ago)

gore is not so much a reduce yr energy consumption guy as he is a let's find technological solutions kind of guy.

Even if he does consume 20x the average, he's done 10,000 times as much as the average person to fight global warming.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, even if we do everything possible to minimize the impact of global warming, it will all be for naught because of the gore mansion

Dick Cheney's pacemaker consumes 4x the average amount of batteries as the average american household annually
