I know fuck nuthin about art, but I know I really like Eugene Carriere's works. It seems so foreboding. I love it.

Also if anyone wants to use this thread to bond with me on Agnes Martin/ Felix Gonzales Torres/ Rachel Whiteread/ Laurence Weiner/ Hanne Darboven/ Lynn Davis then please do.

By the way this goes about a billion times for Agnes Martin, every single group crit I have starts with me obsessing on some Agnes Martin quote and how futile it is try becoming as amazing a painter as she is. I love her so much.

I know, right?, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

Matt Hoyle's portfolio of sideshow performers has my attention. It's a little creepy, a little sad, and a little parable in pictures about dignity.

I wonder why this (and the other) thread are almost exclusively contemporary artists. Don't you people ever think about artists working before 20 years ago!?

Not sure if this counts as "visual art," per se, but it makes for an arresting, unsettling clip:

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 April 2009 00:35 (sixteen years ago)

Crud. Not sure that worked. Second try:

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 April 2009 00:36 (sixteen years ago)

Bah! Damn Youtube.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 April 2009 00:36 (sixteen years ago)

mehlt: i do but i like to use this thread to talk about newer stuff i've seen and liked. i updated the first thread recently w/ mickalene thomas but i'm all for sticking to this one because that fucking richard prince pop-up is really annoying

zurück zum Traphaus (donna rouge), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 00:47 (sixteen years ago)

I know, I was just joshing and all.

I can't see myself ever liking Richard Prince because of that pop up alone.

Read an article about Marlboro Man photographer Norm Clasen. His images of Horses and the West are incredible:
