If the world must have another cop show, let it feature the disconcerting vocal rhythms of Mr. Jeff Goldblum. Anyone else charmed by the commericals for this one?

I just saw one an hour ago and flipped the fuck out. It looks awesome even with all the sixth sense crap. I hope he turns into BRUNDLECOP eventually!

Did anyone see either the Conan or Letterman where Goldblum was lured out onto stage with a salt lick?

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think it's quite The Sixth Sense. The IMDb description says he doesn't actually see ghosts, he just imagines the people are still around to help him with cases.

I don't think NBC is ready for fly vomit.

"We need to get this on tape. Okay, future, this is how Brundlecop sticks it to murderers." *acid vom*

They need to replenish the sugar at the precinct ever day bcz Brundlecop pours it all into one cup of coffee.

Ghost Whisperer without the tits. Brilliant marketing strategy!

I've had a crush on Goldblum since age 5, I need zero of mammaries. He is greying rather handsomely now.

Eh, it was okay. I totally called the "OMG Sixth Sense partner!" twist at the end. Goldblum was great but his acting might be too good for TV. The dialogue isn't up to par. I did like this exchange though.

Groundskeeper: Who were you talking to?
Raines: The dead.
Groundskeeper: [Blank stare]
Raines: They hunger for human brains.

show would be awesome if it was about a coke-sniffin', base-stealin' badass from the go-go 80s (w/french subtitles)

I hope it gets better...I think it will because episode 1 is usually expository dullness.

Abbott, Saturday, 17 March 2007 03:53 (eighteen years ago)

was not so impressed. i usually have a soft spot for goldblum but this time around i was 'eh'.

ooh, i just watched this - i like it! i love goldblum - and his skinny suit and tie and cop/suave-dad hair and wrinkles. i agree that his acting is possibly too good or rather too weird for tv, but could work in the way that hugh laurie's acting works for 'house' (which i don't really watch but y'know what i mean) - esp b/c he is the focus of the show.
also, i have a weakness for shows with supernatural phenomena in them, esp if they are set in the streets and beaches of LA and feature weary-but-still-on-the-ball cops with a sense of humour. plus, it's a good name, 'raines'.

I just keep roffling because we've had this consultant at work who is a fairly tall guy, weird vocal rhythms, and states things in an overly articulate way --- AND HIS NAME IS M1CHAEL RA1NS. As in, the same name as the main character on this show. The creepy part is, someone at work hired him as a contractor again last week!

I was surprised how creepy the opening credits sequence to this seemed.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 23 March 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
the opening credits are creepy and the show in general is creepy even if the writing itself is not creepy - which is weird. i mean, looking at the writing alone, it's a fairly standard tv drama, but add in some weird shots, music, uh, the dead people, and ABOVE ALL jeff goldblum and the whole thing is just really weird to watch.

goldblum/raines and his half-lidded eyes and his close talking all the time - it seriously makes me feel uncomfortable for whoever he's talking to, incl his dead partner's kid (as in this wk's ep). and yet b/c of this i'm compelled to keep watching.
also, i have such a crush on him whoa. and i like that it's in LA.

if they'd get some good writing going, then this would be a killer show. but i don't have any real hope for that :/

They do need some better writing.
