I found a copy of Demo by Richard Allen in a box of books in my loft yesterday, the tag line is 'with a little help from their Moscow friends, the love generation learns to hate'.

The fact that Swells from the NME is endlessly going on about him makes me think twice about reading it, anyone have any thoughts on him?

I once read 'Skinhead's return'(or something similar). Amongst many other dodgy moments the protagonist commits a rape which is described in the most nauseous language (ie she 'wanted it' really). Suggest leaving the book in the box, nasty and unpleasant adolescent thug fantasies.

I cannot understand why these boox have some kind of cult phollowing as they are even worse than sven hassel's, as proven here

Nasty ultra racist/chauvanist shit which I suppose does at least prove that some things have improved in thee last 20-odd years - you'd never get away w/publishing stuff like this these days.

Atrociously written, very stupid and not even entertaining in passing. Desperately retro-fashionable at some point in the late '80s for reasons I've forgotten. (& obviously inspirational for Wells & Stewart Home, whatever that's worth).

I read a couple once, they were OK. The skinheads had to have a fight with some youth movement who modelled themselves on the IRA. Loopy really, not much to worry about.
