and then that's him singing the who song at the end of it, right? the loveable doofus? but it's like some primal scream russell crowe thing or something? i can't wait for blades of glory.

does doofus think of this stuff at noon playing xbox in his 400000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 square foot hacienda? in his underwear.

why does black man helps ]wacko get pre-9/11 mojo back

While this film may have numerous offenses, I don't get the impression that the magical Negro trope is one of them.

Also, I thought it was subtly implied that Sandler's real demons were not from the fact that he lost his family, but his relationship to them beforehand, which I think could be a good device.

I dunno, I don't think this looks completely horrendous.

Obv. the trailer is bad. All trailers are bad in the exact same way.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:30 (eighteen years ago)

okay, so maybe holy black man turns pre-verbal nutcase on scooter into real boy again ISN'T what it's all about. still, what's up with doofus's hair? right, i get it, crazy hair. but still...

scott seward, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:40 (eighteen years ago)

It looks like a good idea for a film that could be made much better with no Adam Sandler and no dramatic use of The Who.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

dude, donald sutherland doesn't make bad movies

mookieproof, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:43 (eighteen years ago)

I like how his *serious* crazy voice is basically his *funny* crazy voice toned down a little.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

I totally related to Don Cheadle when he was trying to rationalize hanging out with his crazy friend to his wife by saying "Men have hobbies, they play golf..."

Hurting 2, Thursday, 8 March 2007 05:47 (eighteen years ago)

Is that the Who? It sounds like Pearl Jam.

Film looks harmless enough. At least Don Cheadle is wearing his real accent in it.

accentmonkey, Thursday, 8 March 2007 10:10 (eighteen years ago)

Is Sandler channelling Bob Dylan like Depp channelled Keith Richards?

ledge, Thursday, 8 March 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, you're right, it's PJ covering The Who (xpost)

Hurting 2, Thursday, 8 March 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

My Adam Sandler hate knows no bounds.

Jenny, Thursday, 8 March 2007 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

that scream at the end is sandler though! isn't it? it sounds exactly like him.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 March 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

he's so rich and bored. he's like an old pair of sweatpants. hmm, a t.v. remote, that's a great idea. hey what about someone so sad they can only play video games all night? it's a wonder that he rouses himself long enough to make a movie. next up: the couch potato, the lump, and big baby's house.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 March 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

actually next up:

Two straight, single Philadelphia firefighters (Sandler, James) pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 March 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

I totally thought that was Sandler covering The Who as well. And now that I think about it, I can perfectly imagine Eddie Vedder singing the "The Hannaukah Song".

When I saw the commercial for this out of the corner of my eye I actually asked my friends if it was Bob Dylan.

ENBB, Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

i kinda hate that guy. or at least i hated him on his horrible hbo show. liked his blonde brit wife though. she was later on the bad u.s. remake of coupling.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:48 (eighteen years ago)

Adam Sandler should play bob dylan

akm, Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

So did I. And then I couldn't stop laughing hysterically at the rest of the trailer, people thought I was on drugs.
