valium and prozac shouldn''t be a problem, though you'd want to check with yr doc about that...the methadone is what may vause some pretty fucked up interactions, as well as significant side effects of their own...my suggestion, if you want it, is to talk to a gp you can trust about the ups and downs of taking each together.

hey between your two posts you've gone from using methadone once a fortnight to once a week! see how dangerous it is? you know you don't have to smoke pot to be cool.

maryann, Friday, 15 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Um...i dont believe i mentioned pot in either one of my posts??

Gina, Friday, 15 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yo, gina--people who take prozac+valium+methadone almost never see their lives get better. it's been proven by science many times over. others have done the research for you--you needn't waste your time. what happens when you stop taking the prozac and the valium? try that for a while and see if your jitters go away. first couple of days might be nasty, but life in general will get much better, quickly. methadone is a shit drug and good to stay away from. good luck!

also need to be aware methadone really rots your teeth...seriously, so make sure you take good care of your mouth, bursh and floss, because methadone is bad for it. that's whya lto of recovering heroin users have bum mouths.

you're saving money because there is a new study showing that prozac is just a placebo with side effects anyhow.

Like all antidepressants. They're a big scam! Don't fall for them! The teeth thing is completely true, I saw a methadone user pull his tooth out this weekend. By mistake.

one year passes...
I take Prozac 20mg daily and Valium 5-10mg a couple times a day with no real problems. The Prozac tends to have an "upper" effect and the prozac is definitely a "downer"....they tend to equal each other out. Prozac takes away depression but causes jitters, and the valium eases them. I have not been able to find any articles or documentation claiming that there is anything wrong with this. As for the Methadone....its like cocaine addicts....your teeth will just fall out when you take a bite of a sandwich..that is after prolonged use.

tell me more about prozac = placebo w/side effects thing.
sounds about right, it doesn't do shit for me (20mg/day).

three months pass...
I take methadone for a hydocodone addiction that I had...not heroin, and I have talked to doctors and they say that it causes no harm on your teeth, however, heroin does...most heroin addicts never took very good care of their teeth in the first place, that is why they have bad teeth, but not from the methadone itself. I am down to 10 mg of methadone a day and I used to take Prozac, which seemed to help. I was wondering if there are any effects of mixing these two drugs, if so I don't want to take them together, but I really need the Prozac , so if anyone knows let me know..

thanks

Is OxyContin replacing methadone? Seems to be cropping up a lot in the press lately?

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 25 January 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

huh? why on earth would anyone substitute OxyContin for methadone? it makes no sense!
