It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in Hastings that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

*meowr...SPARRRRRRRRRRRRRTA*

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

That is the picture of the day.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

A common scene in Hastings... it almost makes me feel nostalgic.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

Skins vs. scales.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

(I took ballet in a studio very close to that building, so that might explain the nostalgia.)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

You do often see Lu Stoffel lurking behind the courthouse while Mr. Veith stands guard against the unwashed Cottage Grove horde, it's true.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

"The Call of Stoffel," by H. P. Perry.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

lol at that imagery... I was thinking about Mr. Clymer for some reason the other day. "The class of 1990 has class..." Did he recycle that speech for every graduation? I know my class had a (deserved) reputation and they were just as happy to see us go...

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

that is the picture of the universe

river wolf, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

i always kind of liked how cowtown was actually on the other side of the tracks

river wolf, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

I always wanted to see actual cows there. I was always disappointed.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

I like how there are a bunch of awesome houses down there that no one ever sees!

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, who's river wolf again?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

And the Hastings marina is down there!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

ghost rider

river wolf, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

gbx = river wolf?

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

And the Hastings marina is down there!

The Hasting mafia. Tony "Hotdish" Sneffelson and his consigliere "Big Ed" Bjaaland.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

river wolf is a man whose blood runs true blue with the hopes and dreams of HSTNGS.

That's all I'm allowed to say.

Sorry about freaking out on the old one. Hit my limit, I think.

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

John, after you and Calcedonia left the Happy Gn0me on Sunday, homeslice and I got cut off, and they called a cab.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

Hastings Mafia is not centered at the Marina.

Hope you are feeling better John. Or at least you're not about to be attacked by a giant baby.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

What were you doing inside of a happy gnome?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

John, after you and Calcedonia left the Happy Gn0me on Sunday, homeslice and I got cut off, and they called a cab.

I know there has got to be more to this story...

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

Cucumber gin and tonics.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

Also, FB is soon to be remanded to 7th grade for remedial typing lesssons. ;)

(Maybe I'm the only one who ever had Mrs. Str4nd, with her terrifying pants, but let me tell you - that would be a serious threat!)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, you added cucumbers to your gin and tonics?

(I'm sorry, what was the trouble with melted butter again?)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.surdyks.com/ProdImages/med_Hendricks%20Gin.jpg

Also: remedial typing lessons for why?

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

HOLY SHIT the cucumber G&T's were great. Cucumber infused gin, yes?

How long did it take to get cut off?

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry, FB, I was making fun of your typing of "Caledonia." You just have an extra letter. (I told you I was tired and cranky today!)

Gin WITH cucumber already in it? What will they think of next?!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

I think we had one more Delerium Tremens each.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

My favorite bit in this story:

He said Id had issued physical dongles

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

It is a fine, smooth gin. The cucumber garnish made the drink perfect.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

Huh. It sounds crazy. But then again, I don't like gin, so maybe I'd like it that way. Is there a brand name?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

My God, that sounds like heaven!

(PS: There is total bro-age going on in the sandbox DC thread, I recommend popping back and saying howdy.)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

the happy gnome is a great bar!

gff, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

muddy pig is better tho, tv's notwithstanding. same owner i think.

gff, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

Muddy Pig is better except for all the trannies????? Wow MN has changed.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:50 (eighteen years ago)

The trannies are fine, it's the Persian ninjas that keep messing the place up.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

My ex is a ninja now?

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

We will put her name to the test.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, btw, the cucumber gin brand name is Hendrick's.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks FB for the brand name.

I'm not sure you should be testing out ninjas in any way, regardless of whose ex they are.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I have developed a new emoticon for whiny assholes:

;*;

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

There was the old anal tears meme on ILX back in 2001...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

A++

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

There was the old anal tears meme on ILX back in 2001...

What was it?

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

An anal tears meme.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

DYUH.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

Google it.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

Nickalicious is one of us.

(It was evolved by Queen G from Australia, a passionate soul.)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

If you do that, I will give you a bazillion kudos.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

All I can think of now is Lambchop. Thanx guys.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

I was thnking of the band.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sure I'm going to regret looking at that tonight when I get the inevitable Lambchop-related nightmare, but right now I kind of feel nostalgic about it.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

I like the idea of "inevitable Lambchop-related nightmare."

John Justen, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

"How's your week been so far?"
"Oh, fine, the usual inevitable Lampchop-related nightmare, but that's to be expected."

John Justen, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

I hate people who don't have insane nightmares that make no sense.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

But I'm glad YOU are entertained, John.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

LAAAAAAAAAAAMBCHOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 24 May 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Here's something bizarre: the phone rang this morning and I didn't get to it on time. There really wasn't a message, just some heavy breathing and paper rustling noises. When I looked at the caller I.D., it said "Star Tribune." I'm just not sure that is the way to sell more papers...

Sara R-C, Thursday, 24 May 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

I'm trying to make a little extra on the side. I like to think of myself as an innovator.

Anonymous, Thursday, 24 May 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

The streetcorner might be a better place to sell from than the phone.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 24 May 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I'm totally calling Dan "Agony Tits" from now on. Forget this "deX" nonsense.

Also, FB, THANK YOU A TON; I will send you an email tomorrow when I've regained coherence. I (obviously) made it home okay, and also I got the certification I needed. RAH! Next week = SUSHI FUN. (But you might have to sit by J.; she likes new people).

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

GUYS

http://www.themovieblog.com/archives/dammedancing01.gif

WHAT THE HELL

HI DERE, Friday, 25 May 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

And people think agoraphobia is illogical...

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

HAY GUISE GUESS WHO NO LONGER HAS FOOD POISONING?

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:24 (eighteen years ago)

Ugh, glad you're better John. I've had food poisoning a couple of times in the past and both times I begged A. to just kill me. (As usual, he refused to follow my directions.)

Do you know what you ate that made you ill or is it just one of those mysteries? Food poisoning just... sucks.

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

Tainted fucking ice cream.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

haha!

Caledonia, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

Daer Ben and Jerry,

Fuck you guys, SRSLY. Hippies.

Love,
J

xpost why you laugh at my pain?

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

Tainted ice cream?! Yikes.

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

because it wasn't really the dirty hippies' fault was it? hmmm?

Caledonia, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

Since you're here, "Caledonia", any interest with meeting up w/Jeff and Mike before the uptown show for a drink or two?

xpost IT IS ALWAYS THE DIRTY HIPPIES FAULT. THIS IS A TRUISM AND A TAUTOLOGY, UNLESS NO HIPPIES CAN BE BLAMED.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

Pausterization would have prevented this EGREGIOUS TRAGEDY. One can hardly blame the modern man for expecting a certain measure of resiliance in his foodstuffs, no?

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

1. I think you should return your philosophy-with-logic-concentration degree post haste, John.

2. What the hell did you do to the ice cream?

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

Well, "John Justen" . . . oh, wait! shit!!!

Anyway, yes. a drink or two or five.

Also, you pass the buck like a fuckin' republican. Oh, i went there! Did ya see that? yeah, I went there!

Caledonia, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

lol... wow.

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:37 (eighteen years ago)

I meant to say EGREGIOUS TRAGEDY OF MONUMENTAL PROPORTIONS, RESULTING IN NATIONAL CONCERN FOR MY WELL BEING, AND CONSIDERABLE CIVIL UNREST.

xpost: American's aren't interested in the particulars of the incident, especially when hippies are involved.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

Nor are they interested in proper use of apostrophes.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

Of course not!

I forgot my nicotine patch today and I feel super-duper awesome. Yep. super awesome. fuck, I HATE this!!!

Caledonia, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

Americans need to know what to do to protect themselves from tainted ice cream incidents, whether they want to or not. Whether they need to know about the proper use of apostrophes is debatable.

Caledonia, what can I say, that sounds unpleasant... er... perhaps it will pass soon?

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

have a good weekend, all!

Caledonia, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, happy Memorial Day weekend! ENJOY!!!!

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

YOU DON'T HAVE THE THIRTEENTH STEP????????????????????

It's only like my favorite Keenan-related musical artefact EVER. It's the perfect mix of Tool's brutality and APC's pop sensibility.

it sounds like the perfect pro-tools demo

sorry, just had to throw that in there

also: is anyone going to the SGM show on monday?

the sir weeze, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

OF COURSE I AM.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

I mostly used all caps there because I was excited.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

BUT ALSO BECAUSE I AM YELLING AT YOU.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

not really.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

Also, ILX being covered with sex threads today makes me want to die, and makes me feel like I did in between bouts of vomiting two nights ago.

Daer ILX,

YOU ARE ALL PASTY AND WEIRD AND SHOULDN'T BE TOUCHING ANYONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF WITH ANY PARTS OF YOU EVER SO STOP.

-j.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

ALSO, THX "HI DERE" FOR ALL THE BUMPS U A DICK.

John Justen, Friday, 25 May 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Jeez John, when did you get so hyper sensitive?

I'll refrain from pointing out that even REALLY OLD PEOPLE have sex.

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

Oops.

Try to put it out of your mind.

Sara R-C, Friday, 25 May 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

so, i went to v's for like, an hour tonight for some reason, and i ended up being inadvertantly reunited with not one, not two, but THREE people i went to fucking ELEMENTARY school with. please kill me

and john, with responses like that, i may start reading your posts in 'lil john' voice

all the more entertaining

the sir weeze, Saturday, 26 May 2007 02:11 (eighteen years ago)

ALSO, THX "HI DERE" FOR ALL THE BUMPS U A DICK.

^_^

HI DERE, Saturday, 26 May 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha Dan.

If I went somewhere and I kept seeing people from my elementary school, I'd probably run away really fast. That's crazy.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 26 May 2007 19:00 (eighteen years ago)

Okay John, making my desktop machine crash as retaliation for reviving half of the old sex threads was way more of a dick move. (Yes, I'm blaming you because it's easier than blaming dodgy porn sites.)

HI DERE, Monday, 28 May 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

John = Instant Scapegoat. "JUST ADD PROBLEM."

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 May 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

John Justen, Monday, 28 May 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

Just close your eyes, click your heels together and chant, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home..." I think you'll remember us when you wake up, John.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 May 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)
