do you think that there is a correlation between the standard of a country's art and that of its food?

I am thinking of art sensu stricto -- paintings and sculpture -- but feel free to extend it.

Italy for example - brilliant art, brilliant food.

France - good art and food.

UK - fair to middling both

Russia - poor in both depts

i would say so yes, although it is v difficult to gauge it since so much of its art was linked with propaganda for the majority of C20th.
