For ILXorLOLapalooza

London ILX is having a party with many UK ILX bands playing, June 17th it is. We would like to get some videos contributed by the ILX masiive, they could be tracks from the ILX contribution, montages of cats, famous ILX animations, dedications ('Hi, were the Hastings balkan and we MAAAOOOWAAAARGH) etc.

I shall throw these up on the big screen with some live text and graphics. I may be able to rig up some internet -> text -> screen magic, maybe linked into the server at some point. (I have no idea about getting a net connection yet). If anyone has got some unlimited bandwidth HSDPA magic then we may be able to get a stream back.

If you are going to contribute videos then I have an order of preference for format. I'd rather not get into transcoding, standards conversion etc.

Everyything should be PAL (720x576) and 4:3 aspect ration

What I would like, in order of preference:

MPEG-2 I-Frame 12-18Mbps, .mpg wrapper sterero PCM audio 16bit 48khz (I'll take IBP but not less than 8Mbps, please)
Windows Media VC-1 2-8Mbps (higher the better) WMAudio

I will take anything that Final Cut Pro can read but I'd rather not
I can also deal with miniDV tapes under duress

Mail me if you have questions.

Now get Ken Burnsing Cat pictures in iMovie

this sounds interesting. what is the deadline?

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

Let's say June 1st for videos in the right format and May 20th if I have to transcode them.

Ed, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

i'm pretty sure the transcoding is not an issue. now I have to think of something interesting enough to be with the mighty ned head. i do have a might fat bitchy cat. . .

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

also please generate CRIDs for scheduling purposes

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

MAT IDs and spool numbers need not apply

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

G. has all the various video editing equipment needed for international and domestic purposes. I will merely come to him with my idea and these specs and say "we're going to make this for these internet people overseas you've never met." and then he's going to laugh at me and call me a weirdo. and then hopefully help me make it.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

We take plain text, because we are the technology of the future, we are more than machines, (and quite cuddly)

Ed, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

I might be able to contribute something as I've been planning to get back into doing stuff with Premiere.

blueski, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

So, how do I make a slide-show that fits your specs?

MPEG-2 I-Frame 12-18Mbps, .mpg wrapper sterero PCM audio 16bit 48khz (I'll take IBP but not less than 8Mbps, please)

I have a Mac and no money.

Or I could send you a series of poster-boards with shoddily pasted color ink-jet printouts, curling at the edges, and my "Maximum Overdrive" tape. Please ff to "Ride On" on side B.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

I will take anything that emerges from iMovie iPhoto, but will be a transcoding it as and when I have time to do it.

A Quicktime DV .mov or H.264.mov will be acceptable, but might not make the final cut if I run out of time.

Ed, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

(My goal is for my actual self to be there rather than the big giant me head, but either will do.)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Please don't get me started on codecs and my stalinist plan for the video industry.

Ed, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

I have a converter, so in theory I can send you an mpeg2.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

Ed is the Pete Sinfield of ILX!!!!

mitya, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

running time?

koogs, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

If you want the sound to be played then they need to fit between bands, and with the DJs so keep it short, if you want to do backdrops whilst bands are playing, you can go longer.

Ed, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'm really not sure that all bands would appreciate background while they are playing. That is something that should really be discussed/cleared with specific individual bands before attempting.

I'm not saying people shouldn't do it -but just get clearance from the band first.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)
