Pretty awful.

It's like a New Yorker cartoon, but instead of wasting 2 seconds of your life if they suck, they waste 30 seconds.

I'm really fond of NYer cartoon humor, but this whole concept flagrantly fails to recognize that the whole humor of them is 95% dependent on, like, captioning. I mean, I'm not sure any decent one-panel cartoon would survive animation, but NYer cartoons are so PARTICULARLY ill-suited to it: who the hell would look at those and think "what this needs is voice-acting?"

Like I'd say there's a pretty good reason the captions all appear in the same text style.

I was afraid the dog one was going to be some kind of Thurber desecration.

most of the time I ignore the NYer cartoons, when my eyes do land on one invariably it seems like a non-sequitir or just resoundingly non-amusing. maybe I lost my literate sense of humor on the internets.

This is like when they did the animated Gary Larson, which I found weird and disconcerting.

There was one cartoon I liked recently - young guy at job interview and the interviewer is looking at his resume and saying "I see you got along equally well with the jocks and the stoners."

ten months pass...

If anyone a) is willing to go out into this virus infested world, b) is near an Ollie's Bargain Outlet, and c) doesn't have but would like to own that big 2-vol slipcased NY'er Encyclopedia of Cartoons from 2018, you could check there. They had a couple dozen sets at $20 each at my location today.
