thanks people and lauren. not that lauren is not people, just singleing her out.
my birthday was yesterday, the 19th, same as Patrick Mcgoohan AND No. 6.
I turned 32.
yesterday, my girlfriend and I went out to Montauk Manor, a 90+ year old hotel near the very end of Long Island. I'd never been out there, not as far as the Hamptons even, and Montauk was really cool. Because it's "off-season" it's really cheap. The place is this giant old building and it was almost totally deserted, very Shining-esque! We ate lunch at a greasy place called the Munch Box then figuring half the restaraunts would be closed and we wouldn't know which were good and they're all expensive, we just went to a deli and got sandwhiches and picnic stuff and had dinner in the hotel room, which was this crazy duplex with a full kitchen and fireplace and everything, even a private terrace...but it was too cold to go out there. We swam in the indoor heated pool and whirlpool with only the "lifeguard" in the room (or entire hotel?)
then this morning I had pancakes with ham and scrambled eggs. We stopped in the Hamptons to window-shop and drove around the side roads to see where the really rich people live. We drove back, missed the turnoff to get to the LIE and took the local road all the way back.
So really, no fancy bday dinner this year, though sunday a few folks and I went to SriPraPhai, and Saturday my mom and step-father took me to De Mole, which is definitely my favorite restaraunt in the world, not just because it's one of the top mexican places in NYC, but because the people are so nice.
And I got many nice and generous gifts, most importantly, the Little Nemo book that's 16" x 21" big.

Thanks again.
