"Ten-year-old Bobby Gaines and his dog Sasha (both played by Nicolas Cage) discover the true meaning of Christmas while panhandling in New York to raise money for Bobby's ailing mother, who cannot afford treatment for hepatitis C. Starring Julianne Moore as Regina, the brave mom with everything to lose and Hugh Grant as the charming billionaire."

Silliness aside, I just don't see much of a movie there. Boy and dog panhandle for first hour = lots of long, slow scenes of boy and dog standing, fidgeting, staring, cupping hands over mouths for warmth, etc. - maybe at best the opportunity for some existential dialogue. Then as soon as Hugh Grant shows up, problem solved, no tension.

Kevin Spacey as the rival panhandler who betrays the boy's trust.

How? By saying "Arrr, give yer money to me! The boy and his dog are crap panhandlers!"?

I was not intending to defend the merits of this shit-brained movie proposal. All I wanted was to float out the idea of Nic Cage playing a child and a dog in the same movie.

Maybe he cons the boy out of his mega begging bucks??

"Prof. Jon Baron (Rupert Everett) is comfortable in his marriage of convenience, with his McMansion, expensive car, beautiful wife Susan (Famke Jansen) and law student daughter Charisse (Maggie Gyllenhall). But when his long-time boytoy, Mark (Zach Braff) becomes a media darling after winning American Popstar, his life is thrown into turmoil. Director Stephen Soderberg leads us through this fun-filled farce, and teaches us a lesson about life, love, and being true to one's self."

Shit, that might be too plausible.
