ok, so i was getting up, and i saw what looked like piece of skin on the ground...i picked it up, and it was clearly reptilian...i turned and i saw ANOTHER PIECE..so, i surmised there was a reptile of some sort in my room. well..i turned towards my bed and lo and behold there is a little lizard resting next to a sock lying on my copy of Watchmen, which I am currently re-reading. Pics up soon if i can find the camera. i'm also gonna try to capture this little fella and let him go outside so my cats won't get 'im.

Too bad cats and lizards cannot cohabitate - them wallcrawlers are great bug control.

thats a geko. it looks like he's re-growing his tail, too.

they're way rad to have around because they eat bugs.

drawback = poop indistinguishable from mouse poop.

my room's disgusting right now, so it really doesn't matter anyway, lol.

i believe it's actually a green anole lizard, though i think in some places they're colloquially referred to as "geckos" even though they are not true geckos..

latebloomer, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

i like your new lizard, he is v v cute, your sock is baggy though.

estela, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

i found a baby geko nestled in my headphones one day. we was less than one inch long.

g®▲Ðұ, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

he likes the alan moore...anxiously awaiting lost girls no doubt.

dan selzer, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

Mister Lizard!

Slumpman, Friday, 23 March 2007 00:42 (eighteen years ago)

he looks surprised, maybe it is dawning on him that his feet are really small.

estela, Friday, 23 March 2007 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

KEEP HIM AS A PET.

(blue) jam reference = :-)

unfished business, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

jessie -

i already released him:-/ he was surprisingly easy to catch, usually lizards are FAST. i let him go out in the yard, hopefully he's doing all right out there.

latebloomer, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

if he returns, he is yours.

estela, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

god I love lizards. In the summer here in Austin, little transparent lizards run around everywhere, in your house, yard, etc. Once I found a tiny lizard skeleton under my bed. I think the cats kept him from coming out and he withered away.

I really, really miss my Iguana. :(

here's some pictures of the last one i found in my place:

that's similar to the ones that appear here every summer. except usually they are much smaller.

Once, when my iguana was still a baby, I walked into my room to see one of those guys on my wall. I freaked out wondering how in the hell Chingy turned transparent. yeah, uh, duh.

Ms Misery, Friday, 23 March 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

Awww fat tail! I wish we had lizards instead of rats -- they EAT bugs, instead of CARRYING them around in they furs.

Laurel, Friday, 23 March 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

yeah that's why i took a picture of this guy, because he was a lot bigger than the ones we normally get. my GF went for a walk the other day and sat down on a park bench a some six-inch long guy who could puff out his throat in a big red bubble was chillin' next to her.

g®▲Ðұ, Friday, 23 March 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

> puff out his throat in a big red bubble

That's lizard for "hey, hot stuff, let's go back to my place." I hope you kicked his ass!

Oilyrags, Friday, 23 March 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

the ones that puff out their throat are anoles, like the one in my room.

the lizard in g®▲Ðұ's photo is an actual gecko! surely dropping by to dispense advice on car insurance.

latebloomer, Friday, 23 March 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

aw, lizards. :D

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 23 March 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

that reminds me, i need to renew with geico this week.

g®▲Ðұ, Saturday, 24 March 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

The ones you see are a kind of gecko, Sam. They are adorable (look at those tiny nails)! We get them in the house a lot, but with our carpet color/pattern it looks or a moment like the carpet has come alive. We try hard to catch them without breaking off their tails.

patita, Saturday, 24 March 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
I was in the Louisiana State Capital building's formal-looking library meeting room this summer, and I looked up and there was a 3 or 4 inch lizard clinging to the wall. It didn't move at all over 2 hours, so during a break I poked it with a paper, and it fell off, dead and dessicated. It was kind of weird to see a lizard in that kind of setting.

Jesse, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

I am moving to a warmer climate! You guys have lizards! All there is in nyc is mice if you're unlucky or rats if you're really unlucky... This blows. I'm totally moving.

BTW, Jesse, I'm slightly disturbed that it could still cling while dead. BUT STILL, lizards are amazing.

Andi Mags, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)

Well, the wall was covered in some kind of acoustics-aiding stuff that was covered in textured cloth, so it had a good grip.

I don't want lizards in my house. No lizards, and even more *no* to the horrible MONSTROUS cockroaches.

Jesse, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)

lizard's feet are incredibly sticky, so they really have to rot for a while before they fall. they're harmless!
