HAs anyone ever been to this abomination? Not only is it the worst & worst-presented 'diner' food I have ever eaten, they are also the only drive-thru (to my knowledge) offering a GIBLETS PLATTER. Chicken giblets.

Notice they dare not even siggest their food is edible:

"Grandy's fills a niche in the quick-service restaurant industry. Our wholesome, modestly priced meals appeal to a very broad customer base. And Grandy's customers receive more value than they would at a fast food outlet, without spending the extra time and money to eat at a full-service restaurant."

Grandy's is still around? They pulled up stakes here like 10-12 years ago. Wonders never cease.

Giblets Platter is Luanne's even white trashier cousin.

The drive-in street at my town is quite the curiosity. Grandy's & Long John Silver's side by side, a Cece's pizza (all you can eat crapitude), and an oldskool Arby's cowboy hat sign w/85% burnt-out lightbulbs. I keep meaning to photograph that one.

Nice! Any of the fake-mission style architecture Tacobells?

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:58 (nineteen years ago)

Yes! And a weird-ass '50s diner that is now a drive-thru cheapo burrito place.

There's a Mexican restaurant in the shape of a flying saucer near my work (it shares the parking lot with a Budget Inn or somesuch, and I think it was originally their associated greasy spoon diner.) I haven't tried it, and despite it's mediocre recommendations I reallly want to, because it's a FLYING SAUCER IN A CHEAP MOTEL PARKING LOT.

You owe it to yourself to visit this awesome building. It's got to be on par w/all the shit alien/ufo-themed diners & snackaterias in Roswell.

Abbott, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:09 (nineteen years ago)

Alas, it's not that literally UFOish. Its a hexagonal building with forward sweeping eaves on each side. I think the technical term is brutalist, but I just like wierd architecture, I don't actually know anything about it.

Old ladies used to accidentally call me grandy when I was a kid.

I've never seen one. Which of these states do you live in?

their PDF menu calls cinnamon rolls "sinnamon rolls," not sure if it's cause they're dummies or because their cinnamon rolls are so good that if you eat one your flesh will rot in hell for eternity
