letter, if it's just general communication with friends or family.
e-mail, if it's news i'm waiting to hear.

Maria, Thursday, 29 March 2007 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

junkmail or spam?

Oilyrags, Thursday, 29 March 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

Letter. Preferably containing a big-arse cheque.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 29 March 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

Everyone will say letter. Send me an email. Usual address. Send me a letter: c/o eyeball kicks, No 27, N4 1EE. No one will send an email. No one will send a letter. That's your answer. I got about seven interesting emails in the last week. The most interesting letter I got was signed "Richard Branson", explaining why I was better off without Sky Sports News and whatnot. That's an answer. I got about fifteen interesting text messages. That's another answer.

As my handwriting kinda sucks, e-mail works better for me in replying, unless you like hieroglyphics masquerading as cursive.

Letter! In fact I am thinking of sending off some OS snailmail very shortly, I love getting and writing letters :) Especially when there's little treasures in the package.

I got an email. It said: Happy Easter.

Eyeball Kicks, Thursday, 29 March 2007 02:32 (eighteen years ago)

When is that?

Eyeball Kicks, Thursday, 29 March 2007 02:39 (eighteen years ago)

No one will send an email. was like a red rag to a bull. Easter is next week dude. Extra long weekend ahoy.

GB, xpost sorry. What sort of care package are you dreaming of?

Letters are nice, and I kind of miss them, so if it's either or, I suppose a letter. But I am almost always happy to get a non-spam email as well, especially if it is not just the latest forward or an email from a list serv group. A single email from one person just to me can totally make my day.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 29 March 2007 03:36 (eighteen years ago)

Nothing makes me smile more than a nice hand-crafted note in the mail-box. I could probably have a museum of letters at this point.
The soldier thing is wacky for me - I'm going to donate six bags of paperback mysteries. with a few other novels thrown in, for the troops. I just need to get rid of these books, but when I went to the library today there was a big sign about donating books to/for the troops.
It's all shite that my mother passes along to me - Patterson, Connelly, Hoag. Etc.So it's easy to donate, and What Do You Want To Read In Iraq? would probably be a good mystery book.

Yup - all of the above for me!

aimurchie, Thursday, 29 March 2007 03:42 (eighteen years ago)

Email. The only thing I ever get in the post is bills. I don't check it very often.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 29 March 2007 10:40 (eighteen years ago)

Letter. If people send me an email, I feel I'm under time pressure to respond quickly. With a letter, you've got up to a month to craft a reply before you start to feel you might be leaving it too long.

accentmonkey, Thursday, 29 March 2007 10:45 (eighteen years ago)

make that year

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 29 March 2007 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

I enjoy getting emails, but much prefer letters. I can't even remember the last time I sent anyone a handwritten letter though.

C J, Thursday, 29 March 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't got a handwritten letter since my grandmother died. :-(

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 29 March 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

i like getting letters and postcards but i never know what to do with them when i've read them. apparently it's, like, really bad form to read a postcard and then throw it away, as i discovered when my flatmate went on holiday, got home before his postcard to me did and then was pissed off for a week when i told him i'd binned it. email's so much bloody easier for actual communication, but postcards are at least pretty and you can stick them on your fridge/noticeboard/mantlepiece.

CharlieNo4, Thursday, 29 March 2007 12:22 (eighteen years ago)

I don't like postcards, for some inexplicable reason.

C J, Thursday, 29 March 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I do love getting postcards. Probably because they do not necessitate a response.

I like sending them, too.
