On the degree to which song lyrics mirror real life

When someone asked you to dance, did you ever think to yourself 'Hmmm, I might take a chance'? Or does this only happen in song lyrics, and never in real life?

Another example: have you ever said to a lover, 'I'm crazy for you'?
