yeah im sure this is redundant but the search function is totally busted.

Q:am i the only person who thinks this guy is hysterically funny in virtuallly every scene in virtually every movie ever?

if i get even one 'no' i will be happy for the rest of the week.

i have no idea what it is about me; i know plenty of people who like or tolerate the guy or whateverr but i can remember even when my little sister would watch these retarded disney movies & he'd be on for like 5-10 min roles & he'd crack the shit outta me. i guess its just a case of him doing exactly the same thing every time, & me finding that thing extremely funny, & it never, ever getting old.

deeznuts, Thursday, 5 April 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

RIP

and what, Thursday, 5 April 2007 18:56 (eighteen years ago)

he appeared on a chatshow in the UK called wogan, and spent the whole ten minute segment playing with a whoopee cushion. he's like a loveably batshit grampa, just so genially mischievous. he has one of 'those' faces.

xp CUT IT OUT ETHAN!

stevie, Thursday, 5 April 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

Forbidden Planet, people

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 5 April 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

He used to host some show called Lie-ography I didn't dig too much. But there's something about that voice along with his stone faced delivery that always killed me too.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 5 April 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

I cna get behind the Leslie Nielsen love. Even when his character is written super poorly and the rest of the movie is piss ie men with brooms he still manages to bring the funny. I think it's his old-man-wide-eyes face he does.

DR MORBS I KNOW YOU WANT TO POST TO THIS THREAD BUT PLEASE RESIST. DNFTT!!!

chaki, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

My position has already been made clear.

Ethan asks the urgent and key question.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:20 (eighteen years ago)

he's not gone yet, no, but dude is 81.

kenan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:20 (eighteen years ago)

He was pretty funny in the Poseidon Adventure.

Jordan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

Stone Motherfucking Classic. Morbius' stance completely baffles me (beside the fact that the idea itself is batshit insane, why would Nielsen - as actor - take the blame?)

Ben Boyerrr, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

The first line in the first episode of "Police Squad!," and Nielsen's acting in that scene, is an unqualified MASTERPIECE of deadpan. It's not an easy art.

"My name is Sergeant Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant, Police Squad. There'd been a recent wave of gorgeous fashion models found naked and unconscious in laundromats on the West Side. Unfortunately, I was assigned to investigate holdups of neighborhood credit unions. I was across town doing my laundry when I got the call on the double killing."

Ben Boyerrr, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

:DDDDDDDDDD

you guys are all just making me so happy

:DDDDDDDDDD

but um like seriously he was in surf ninjas??? all i remember about that movie is a guy with a scar from a sword over his eye & a scene with a kid playing a gamegear & the game switched to something that had to do with an octopus or something & he said "I THOUGHT I WAS PLAYING SHINOBI!!!!"

deeznuts, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

Police Squad! = funny
Naked Gun films = NOT funny

The difference: Nielsen becomes eye-rolling clown instead of journeyman stiff actor reciting absurdities

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 5 April 2007 19:59 (eighteen years ago)

the scene in The Naked Gun where he sets Ricardo Montalban's office on fire, kills his fish, and ends up on a ledge desperately holding on to a stone penis: a high form of low humor.

kenan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

morbs, he does both in the naked gun movies. And I like slapstick.

kenan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

the first Naked Gun movie is pretty funny. Altho I think from there it was pretty much downhill for Zucker-Zucker-Abrams.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

Apparently, one of the Zuckers did the Dennis Miller thing, where 9/11 freaked him out so much he turned reactionary, and started putting out "liberals = terrorsymps lol " vids on youtube.

that's a far cry from "Recuerdo a todos. Receurdo a todos. I want you now. I want you now."

kingfish, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

TOP FUCKING SECRET

ghost rider, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

uh what i meant by that is it's maybe time for the Z-A-Z poll just so shakey mo and alfred lord soto can piss me off some more

ghost rider, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

top secret wins, no need for thread

kenan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

Um, Top Secret ('84) is before Naked Gun ('88), and is totally great wtf. One of Val Kilmer's finer moments.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:11 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i realized that after i realized that your post wasn't just trashing all other ZAZ output, which i assumed it was 'cause you hate fun! :D

ghost rider, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:12 (eighteen years ago)

How weird: he's speaking at the university next Wednesday!

Actually, connoisseurs know that The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear is far funnier: faster, better one-liners, better use of third-rate hacks like George Kennedy and Robert Goulet.

Nielsen's a terrible comic actor, actually, as every non-Zucker related film proved. He's great in Airplane! and as Frank Drebin because he actsexactly the same way in crap like The Poseidon Adventure.

Remember him in the last episode of "The Golden Girls" – "Dorothy, it's time..."

Airplane!, followed by Rat Race

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

hahahah srsly dr morbs?

ghost rider, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

HAPSBURG: Lieutenant...I don't remember seeing you on my guest list.

DREBIN: No need to be embarassed – sometimes I go by my maiden name.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

paraphrased from memory:

jane: But Frank, who'll keep me warm at night?

frank: You don't have to worry, baby. Women have that extra layer of fat.

kenan, Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

HAPSBURG: Do you gamble, Lieutenant?

DREBIN: Every time I order out.

i actually have a soft-spot for naked gun 33 1/3. so many doomed people in one film. not as good as the second movie but that Oscar speech about skinning cats always makes me laugh.

latebloomer, Thursday, 5 April 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

deej, Thursday, 5 April 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

You can't really blame Dr.Morbius for hating on Nielsen, dude destroyed his chances of uncovering more alien scientific knowledge! Plus he's fucking his daughter.
