I just had a SUDDEN FLASHBACK of grasshoppers spitting on me after I caught them. It's gross! It's brown! Why is that?

I have never experienced this. Maybe you're just gross and grasshoppers are digusted by you. Maybe they're actually vomiting.

My dad called soy sauce "grasshopper juice" bcz of the similarity.

Grabbing a grasshopper is its equivalent of being in a jet plane doing zero-g. No wonder they puke.

they do, though - it's gotta be some sorta digestive mixture/acids/volatile compounds that they excrete as a defensive mechanism (i too have been spit on by grasshoppers)
