Why no "Machete"?

Jena, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

eleven months pass...

SRSLY, what kind of weirdo prefers the unbelievably lame DEATH PROOF to the totally brilliant PLANET TERROR?

The Real Dirty Vicar, Friday, 14 March 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)

The endless chatter in the 2nd half of Death Proof is PARTICULARLY stupid.

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 15 March 2008 21:19 (seventeen years ago)

car race is good, tho

kingfish, Saturday, 15 March 2008 21:34 (seventeen years ago)

car chase is pretty good, but given that I had been screaming "Kill them now, Stuntman Mike!" at the screen for a-a-a-a-a-ages, it took its time coming.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)

More like T/S: rose macgowan, rosario dawson

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:53 (seventeen years ago)

rosario dawson >>>> rose macgowan

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:20 (seventeen years ago)

i like the chatting. i haven't seen planet terror yet

tremendoid, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:27 (seventeen years ago)

zoe bell>>rosario dawson>>rose macgowan

felicity, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:35 (seventeen years ago)

was zoe bell the cheerleader? mmm

tremendoid, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:42 (seventeen years ago)

She was on the ChaLOLenger

felicity, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:45 (seventeen years ago)

she was cool

tremendoid, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:53 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah. Cheerleader was cute. You should see the other one, much better IMHO.

felicity, Sunday, 16 March 2008 07:57 (seventeen years ago)

rose macgowan w/ machine gun leg >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> rosario dawson >>>> rose macgowan

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 March 2008 08:04 (seventeen years ago)

Too gimmicky.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 16 March 2008 08:06 (seventeen years ago)

I would've voted "screw 'em both, I want to see two hours of Thanksgiving."

But, yeah, Planet Terror over Death Proof.

Eric H., Sunday, 16 March 2008 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

I was disappointed that the director's cut didn't expand on the cheerleader's story.

milo z, Sunday, 16 March 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

Good God, it expanded on far too much (I assume)

The funniest line in the whole thing was "A movie about cheerleaders."

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 16 March 2008 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

Rosario Dawson pwns. SO hot.

B.L.A.M., Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

i rented this a week or two ago & never got around to finally rescreening it. but from memory, i agree that a)the cheerleader thing needed to be expanded upon b)about 20 minutes of dialog between the second group of girls shouldve been cut. still blows planet terror away though (which was almost completely forgettable in a way that dp simply was not).

deeznuts, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

& thanksgiving was the best part of the feature, & rosario dawson over mcgowan by a country mile. its funny how you guys are all so right & yet so very wrong.

deeznuts, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

Thanksgiving was my favorite of the trailers, but Planet Terror was so much better than Death Proof that it's not even funny.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

Werewolf Women of the SS > the Rodriguez one that's actually getting made > Thanksgiving >>>>>>>>> that dumb one from the Shaun of the Dead guy

milo z, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

Wait, they're really making Machete?!

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:33 (seventeen years ago)

machete? i dont recall the shaun of the dead one to be honest.

i think its kinda weird how, judging by this poll & what i remember from the initial ilx reaction, planet terror has apparently aged much better than death proof, either in ppls minds or upon review. i wouldve thought very much the opposite. xp

deeznuts, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

that dumb one from the Shaun of the Dead guy

Um, that one was the best.

Eric H., Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)

Actually a poll of the Grindhouse trailers would be far better (and probably more contentious) than this one.

Eric H., Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)

wait the shaun of the dead one was the "DONT" one or something right? that was pretty dumb.

thanksgiving will murder any poll dude.

deeznuts, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

dont was great

chaki, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:46 (seventeen years ago)

deeznuts, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

Holy crap! That's Lapidus in the Machete trailer.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

hahahaha father cheech w/shotguns = awesome awesome

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 16 March 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)

hahahaha father cheech w/shotguns = awesome awesome

Yep, pretty much that's the pandering I was talking about right there. "They just FUCKED ... with the WRONG MEXICAN!"

w00t!

Lame.

Eric H., Sunday, 16 March 2008 20:23 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

having now seen the cut down Death Proof, I find it less annoying, but still think PLANET TERROR rules.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Monday, 21 April 2008 10:29 (seventeen years ago)

saw death proof a coupla weeks ago (think it was the director's cut). i wanted to log on and write horrible things about it but didn't get to a pc in time to care. first part is cool but pretty unsatisfying the second act is hopelessly shit.

zoe bell may be a great stunt woman, but she's no actress. very annoying. cheerleader was mcclane's daughter in die hard 4.0?

darraghmac, Monday, 21 April 2008 10:43 (seventeen years ago)

I would have chosen Planet Terror, just coz of the rose mcgowan gun for a leg thing, I'm easily taken in.

jel --, Monday, 21 April 2008 16:50 (seventeen years ago)

I keep thinking Rose McGowan used to be in Strawberry Switchblade.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 11:12 (seventeen years ago)

ten months pass...

Again, whole greater than the pieces.

Nurse Detrius (Eric H.), Wednesday, 18 March 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

zoe bell may be a great stunt woman, but she's no actress.

Kept wondering where I had seen her from and then realized that I was thinking of Sarah Silverman's older sister.

six months pass...

saw planet terror last night. much, much better than death proof.

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 11:20 (fifteen years ago)

yep, how come this poll result is just so wrong

Great Scott! It's Molecular Man. (Ste), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 11:26 (fifteen years ago)

It's not :-)

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 12:24 (fifteen years ago)

it is a rather small sample.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

re-running a poll, that should be a popular decision.

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

in hindsight both of these movies kind of sucked imo

mark cl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:29 (fifteen years ago)

but Death Proof more so, right?

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:33 (fifteen years ago)

still haven't seen "Planet Terror" but I watch "Death Proof" whenever I stumble across it on cable

as strikingly artificial and perfect as a wizard's cap (HI DERE), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:44 (fifteen years ago)

but Death Proof more so, right?

yea def, planet terror was better

mark cl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 14:45 (fifteen years ago)
