This show straddles this weird complete shit/awesome borderline. Most of the characters and storylines are cringeworthy at best, but the cars going vroom vroom skreeeeeeeeeeeee are pretty tight for network tv.

I love the creepy kidfucker from Happiness + budget Lindsey Lohan father-daughter team.

I also love that they basically have Nathan Fillion playing the antithesis of Mal from Firefly - instead of a rogue with a heart of gold he's a normal guy with a DARK SECRET...dark secret NEED FOR SPEED. But with the exact same brand of one-liners.

nickalicious, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

I missed the debut. perhaps they'll replay it. (like I really need another tv show to keep up with.)

nick OTM - hokey fun homes, tho THANK YOU for making Dylan Baker (Creepy Kidpiddler) & WhatsHerFace from The Wire / West Wing SPECIAL GUEST STARS slated to OMG DIE.

Anything that gives Melanie Lynskey work is A-OK in my book (unless it's a CBS sitcom)!

David R., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)

haha nicka, I'm not watching this but mr teeny is, and our kid actually says vroom vroom all the time when it's on.

teeny, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

Utterly craptastic, but oddly addicting. I'm watching

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

oh god nick this is so bad

river wolf, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

Better than 24!

David R., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

& that's some motherfucking praise!

David R., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

I've only seen the ads but I'm impressed by their Lindey Fauxhan they managed to snag. I also apperciate fake Kate Hudson in DISTURBIA ads, and also that it features evil dectecive Tritter from Houe M.D.

Abbott, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

I will watch Nathan Fillion in anything, apparently.

But I'm already bored by 50% of the LOST meets CANNONBALL RUN equation. This needs more Peter Deluise.

rogermexico., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

this show is actively terrible, but i actually watched it in lieu of sitting through the amazing race or some other bullshit.

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:44 (eighteen years ago)

actively terrible is a good way of putting it. was it on again last night? I feel like I should keep watching it but I can't for the life of me think of why.

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

I watched this because I love It's a MMMM World et al. But the acting is horrible and the writers are taking the plot too seriously. The best road race movies entertain the possibility that occasionally a person who doesn't know how to fly a plane is put in a position where they MUST fly a plane. I don't see that happening here.

I'm also bothered by all the supposedly hot young dudes who are not at all attractive.

B-b-b-but boring dad vs poorly written ex-con race scene!

the writers are taking the plot too seriously

This is exactly this show's #1 problem.

Is this Lindsey Fauxhan? Is she Mick Jagger's secret love child?

No, it's this one: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1297015/

The Yellow Kid, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

Funny, I just IMDB'ed Charles Martin Smith a few weeks ago to see if he was still working or fell off the face of the earth or what.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

how likely is it that, with the senses we have developed as a species, we can really know and experience all of, or indeed most of, what exists in the universe? i say very unlikely, which is why i refuse to discount the existence of the supernatural or the deific, whilst simultaneously reserving the right to call bullshit on anyone who claims to have directly experienced either.

therefore, despite the inevitable conclusion through reasoned and logical analysis that this show is utter utter drivel, there are INTANGIBLES, beyond mere conventions such as plotline and character and script, that make it absoultely fuckin' awesome, and that transcend explanation and examination.

that's my position, and i'm sticking to it.

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- It's been a short "Drive" for Fox's midseason drama, which has been pulled off the schedule after two weeks on the air.

For the time being, the serialized drama chronicling an underground cross-country race will be replaced by "House" repeats in the Monday 8 p.m. slot.

"Drive" received a strong promotional push on Fox's juggernaut "American Idol" and was launched with a two-night premiere, a strategy regularly used for the network's hit serialized drama "24."

But "Drive" never clicked with viewers, and its two low-rated airings on Monday seemed to hurt its leadout, "24," which posted its lowest adults 18-49 rating for an original episode in more than three years.

It is not clear when and on what platform the remaining nine episodes of "Drive" will air. Streaming the episodes on Fox.com or offering them as downloads through iTunes are among the possibilities under consideration.

félix pié, Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

it was really awful anyway

félix pié, Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

haha cancelled after FOUR episodes? That has to be a new record.

Eventually this show just made me want to watch Firefly instead.

nickalicious, Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

cancelled while the first episode was on the air!

or right after. I forget.

C. Grisso/McCain, Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

Nathan Fillion deserves more than the straight-to-DVD sequel to White Noise & co-starring w/ the female lead from Tilt.

David R., Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

I think some Fox lawyer drama starring Gretchen Mol & Kathleen Robinson (if that's her name) was shitcanned pretty quick.

David R., Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:21 (eighteen years ago)

Did you know that Glenn Frey had his own crime drama on CBS?

C. Grisso/McCain, Thursday, 26 April 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

i think fox needs to avoid shows about people driving fast, like fastlane (which i guess wasn't about cars but more of a silk stalkings with 2 douchey dudes).

félix pié, Friday, 27 April 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

Fox shd also avoid shows about skin, like Skin (which I guess wasn't about skin but more Ron Silver).

David R., Friday, 27 April 2007 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of Fox, this one might have the record. Placed on the schedule for the fall, it was cancelled before the premiere and subsequently retooled into a direct-to-video movie.

C. Grisso/McCain, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

For a second I was all "Mulholland Drive?"

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

Look at Sarah M. G., she is real, mean, cruel girl, look at Amy Adams she is just little fool hanging around.
