Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

whatever you say Sir.

blueski, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:03 (eighteen years ago)

I've kept the question deliberately vague for a reason.

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:03 (eighteen years ago)

Counting down til someone makes the obligatory Smiths reference...

Surely easily led people wouldn't be aware of it. A bit like "insane people don't think they're insane, they think they're getting saner".

g-kit, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

stubborn as a mule.

Actual answer - it probably depends on the circumstance.

When it comes to general peer pressure, societal pressure, I think I'm fairly immune, I just cannot be bothered with being led by most people if I have no respect for them.

But when it comes to people that I respect and/or love, yes, I suspect I am rather too far too easily lead. I can be quite gullible in those kinds of situations, and this has often got me into a lot of trouble, following the suggestions or behaviour of people I want to be loved by.

I am influenced by the media and my friends only on issues regarding fashion, music, health, fitness, food, drink, social issues, work, travel, ethical consumerism, politics and child-rearing. Other than that, I'm my own woman.

C J, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:10 (eighteen years ago)

You go, girl.

g-kit, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:11 (eighteen years ago)

Apart from being unable to resist "Go on, take a drink!" I think I'm pretty much my own man.

I am influenced by other people's tastes in music, film, etc. but only if they are people I like/respect in the first place and I already know that I tend to like what they like.

onimo, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

Apart from being unable to resist "Go on, take a drink!"

If no-one said this to me I'd probably say it to myself anyway :-/

onimo, Thursday, 19 April 2007 12:15 (eighteen years ago)

I used to be easily led when I was a teenager, because I was kind of conscious that people didn't like me much, so I would just go along with whatever they were doing, even if I wasn't comfortable with it. This led to some unpleasant situations, which could have been much worse.

Nowadays I'm secure in my own curmudgeonly world and won't be influenced by outsiders (anyone who's not me).

accentmonkey, Thursday, 19 April 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)

I'm easily led, but I'm also quite smart at knowing right from wrong. So I'm only easily led in cool things.

Ste, Thursday, 19 April 2007 13:09 (eighteen years ago)

i hope

Ste, Thursday, 19 April 2007 13:09 (eighteen years ago)

I can resist everything except temptation. And tripe.

Whenever I see someone drinking on tv I want a drink. Every time. I don't necessarily get a drink, but I want one.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 19 April 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)

I'm pretty gullible although I'm not sure that's what you mean.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 19 April 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

I'm suggestible, it's true, but only by you.

Daniel_Rf, Thursday, 19 April 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

i came here to make a smiths reference but masonic boom fucked that up. thanks.

deeznuts, Thursday, 19 April 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)

I sit where I sit and damn your eyes.

Aimless, Thursday, 19 April 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

I am not easily led
Despite the head
I was just trying to cross the street with you
I was just a step devoted

But I am not easily led
I'm suggestible at times, it's true
But only by you
I lay open jelly-limbed
To your smallest whim

But I am not easily fed
I'll turn my head
When you come at me with a spoon

No, I am not easily led
Despite the head
I was just trying to get along with you
I was just trying to be a human

So I assume it's Morrissey's fault that I've always interpreted this as a sexual euphemism?

nabisco, Thursday, 19 April 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

i came here to make a smiths reference but masonic boom fucked that up. thanks.

Sigh. Same here.

kenan, Thursday, 19 April 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know any Smiths or Morrisey songs. I feel lucky.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 19 April 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

uh...

kenan, Thursday, 19 April 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

I feel lucky in that smug sort of way of someone's who's never seen any Star Wars films or Simpsons episodes.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 19 April 2007 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

Those people are just BAFFLING. Whereas avoiding the Smiffs is pretty damn easy for most of the population tho I think from the demographics here it may not be...here.

Abbott, Thursday, 19 April 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

I did not hear the Smiths until like two years ago (they are now one of my favorite bands)

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 19 April 2007 23:25 (eighteen years ago)
