Errors in Geography: IMDb Sets It Straight

Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls - The Elephant featured is this film is an Indian when the film is supposed to take place in Africa.

Die Hard 2 - Pacific Bell phones and maps of Los Angeles in Dulles Airport (serving Washington D.C.)

The Longest Day - The German observer who first sees the invasion fleet does so with binoculars made in Germany. We know this because it is written so on the bottom of the binoculars, in English.

Sliding Doors - Jerry makes a joke about withdrawing Helen's Class One Drugs. Great Britain uses an alphabetical classification system so class one should be class A.

"King of Queens" - In a few episodes there is a reference to the characters going to "Dairy Queen". There are no "Dairy Queens" in Queens, or in all of NYC for that matter.

Clerks II - In the Go-Cart Scene, there are California desert mountains visible in the background. The movie is supposed to take place in New Jersey.

Thelma & Louise - When Thelma robs the gas station somewhere in Oklahoma, she tells the clerk to throw in a bottle of Wild Turkey. In Oklahoma, you can only buy hard liquor at a liquor store, not at a gas station.

"8 Simple Rules...For Dating My Daughter - In several episodes, characters drink "Safeway Select" colas. The Safeway Brands are only available in Safeway Company Stores in the Western US and Canada, in and around the Chicagoland area and at some select convenience stores in the Eastern US. The show takes place in Detroit, Michigan. No Safeway Company Stores exist in or around Detroit.

Munich - When Avner meets Andreas and his friend Tony in a Rome café, there is a huge statue of Queen Victoria, in her extremely distinctive pose, in the middle of the square, with the British coat of arms on the pedestal, betraying the location as Malta.

"Bones" - Forget geography. The show seems to use the same stock shot of the characters black SUV cruising around 4th street every time they go out and more then a couple times it can clearly be seen going around in circles. Locations such as Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, Rockville, Dupont Circle seem to be picked out of a hat and when shown appear nothing like they do in real life. Still a fun show however.

"Alias" - One episode has brief scene in Helsinki, Finland. The scene involves high skyscrapers, but no such buildings exist in Helsinki.

The only thing more fun than Bones would be getting an actual robot offspring of Condoleezza Rice and Richard Dawkins to ride around with the actual Angel solving crimes.

That said, the "8 Simple Rules" one needs to be more specific about where in Canada you can get that soda. They live in Detroit, maybe they found a really great warehouse club up in Windsor.

Smokey and The Bandit - The boys go to Texarkana, Texas to pick up the beer, however Texarkana lies in Bowie County, which is a dry county. There would be no beer there, Coors or otherwise.

(Also, there is no such place as Deeson County, Arkansas. And "the boys" would never go through Fayetteville, Arkansas on their way from Texarkana to Atlanta unless they were wanting to take a 500+ mile detour.)

(That last parenthetical statement was from me, not imdb.)

Tommy Boy - Tommy mentions that he and Michelle's brother used to steal doughnuts from Safeway. Safeway does not have any stores in Sandusky, Ohio.

Also: The hovercraft is a Japanese hovercraft with Japanese characters on it, even though its set in America.

Although set in America, when the hovercraft reaches the beach and comes to a stop, the helicopter hovering in front of the bow has a Canadian registration.

Rumble in the Bronx

We have a wiener

According to IMDB its original title was Rumble in Vancouver but they thought that wouldn't sell very well.
