Hey if anybody has any Coke Rewards points they won't use from their 20oz or 2-liter bottlecaps or the little flap from the can 12-pack paper carton thing, may I please have them? I know this guy who's collecting them for his schizophrenic brother cause his brother really wants a Coke vest. The vest is like 800 points or something and he's already collected 380.

I thought maybe we were playing bingo. Do the codes come on all varieties of coke?

Alan, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:16 (seventeen years ago) link

MM, I think so. There's usually a string of 15 alphanumeric characters broken into 3 lines. Give me them.

iiiijjjj, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:18 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll look at home. The boy drinks Coke Zero. I'm a Diet Dr Pepper girl myself.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:18 (seventeen years ago) link

"I was not aware that a string of numbers and letters was copyrightable."

you mean like a book isn't?

koogs, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I wonder if the lost numbers are copyrighted.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 13:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Digg isn't the best, but Kevin played it right today.
This whole thing, regardless of the copyright issues, is a reaction to the severely fucked up entertainment industry. Yes, probably 90% of the people digging the stories are selfish script kiddies and ignorant anarchists, but there's a deeper concern here.

I remember when the normal DVD encryption key was cracked, and when I was in high school I found this shirt at Goodwill that had like 30 lines of code printed on the back that I didn't understand. I gave it to one of my geekiest friends and he still wears it, but I guess it's time to upgrade.

My new favorite number… is being censored.

13256278887989457651018865901401704640, or as programmers might write it 09F911029D74E35BD84156C5635688C0, is a great number that has so many different meanings.. For instance:

* 4.3357393 billion tonnes of gold, which is precisely how much gold I would like to have, contains 13256278887989457651018865901401704640 gold atoms.
* 13256278887989457651018865901401704640 E-22 seconds ago there were primates living in Texas
* The total amount of sediment needed to maintain the deltaic wetlands in coastal Louisiana is 13256278887989457651018865901401704640 yoctograms

And now the AACS is claiming that they own the number. Sorry AACS, like most numbers, ‘your’ number has a long history of prior art.
