69, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

hummus, no contest. garlic and lemon and garlic oh my!

kenan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

I have a weakness for nougat, where as hummus is more of something I like but can live without. Plus nougat plus chocolate = teh yum.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

hummus. i only like nougat in tiny quantities, like in a toblerone bar.

bell_labs, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

wait what about toffee

ghost rider, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

i'm leaning hummus

deej, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for nougat because i am allowed to eat hummus but not nougat

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

i eat hummus a few times a week at least, and i could not tell you the last time i had nougat.

bell_labs, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

oh wait it was yesterday when i stole a mini snickers bar off the admin's desk i guess.

still, hummus.

bell_labs, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

this is hard!

Mr. Que, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

nougat is always the worst part of any endeavor it's involved in

bernard snowy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

hummus, on the other hand, can singlehandedly make even the stalest shitty organic pita edible

bernard snowy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

fuck it, i say hummus.

Mr. Que, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

it is delicious.

Mr. Que, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

Okay guys I don't know where I'm going to get it but I'm going to get a big tub of nougat and leave it in my fridge for snacking on every once in awhile and in a week if I am as satisfied with it as a munchy foundational I will know how my vote will go.

When does this poll close? Do I have enough time!?!?!

nickalicious, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

rock 'n' roll is my bread 'n' hummus.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

this is pretty hard but hummus has the edge

gff, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

-- nickalicious, Thursday, May 3, 2007 4:13 PM (33 seconds ago)

just buy a juicer and a bag of Three Musketeers

bernard snowy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

nougat can fail you sometimes.

Mr. Que, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

multipass = u get both

river wolf, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

lol at juicer idea

Mr. Que, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

but in a pinch i'm going with hummus, easy

river wolf, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

poll closes saturday (not sure if that means when saturday starts or ends?)

69, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

I'll go with hummus cause I could probably live for a good long while on it alone.

will, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

i have been, basically

river wolf, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

hummus, no contest

tribe 40 spices is a multipass of flavor

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

first of all comparing 'i would eat a bucket of hummus vs. bucket of nougat' is just unfair because they are meant to be consumed in diff quantities. Its rare that someone would be like "ooh, a tablespoon of hummus, yum"

deej, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for nougat, i said that already!

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

No I could totally imagine eating a bucket of nougat. I will dip shortbread Girl Scout cookies and biscotti in it.

nickalicious, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not budging from the nougat corner, either.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

Nougat hurts my teeth just thinking about it. Hummus, easily.

o. nate, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

I gotta go with nougat based on consistency of quality. I've never had bad nougat, but I can't eat hummus that lacks the proper balance between creaminess and thickness without thinking of cat vomit.

Brent, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

I guess there's both "rock" nougat and "soft" nougat? But I wonder if the soft stuff is just whipped up with air so that it only hardens in the tiny bubble walls, and not throughout. Anyway rock nougat is the way forward if you absolutely must, I like the way it flakes off and kind of squeaks between yr teeth.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, I think Brent just changed my image of hummus forever.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

i think there's light and dark nougat, and the light version (like 3 musketeers) is purely fluffed sugar, and the dark version is caramelized and gets harder, but is of course still fluffed sugar

kenan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

you're going to want the harder version for your purposes, laurel

kenan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)

Hummus wins because this thread really makes me want some, while I could pass on nougat. (However, I have food with nougat in my room, and no hummus!)

Maria, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

There is a yeast infection QUOTA?????????

HI DERE, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

yes, 7

max, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, and my quota is zero, thank you very much.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

I ate at this new Mediterranean place around the corner yesterday and the shawarma and lavash was very good but their hummus was the worst I've ever had, it was so runny, it might as well have been lemon garlic mayonnaise.

nickalicious, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

Hence I guess my willingness to give nougat the bucket test.

nickalicious, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

LEMON GARLIC MAYNNAISE BUT THAT'S GENIUS!

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

i've never even had a yeast infection, this must be due to not being allowed to consume nougat??

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

nougat vs hummus vs mustardayonnaise

Jordan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I could totally eat nougat with girl scout cookies or biscotti.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

"consume"

kenan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I could totally eat nougat with girl scout cookies or biscotti.

Both. Plus coffee with cream and sugar.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

Eating a bucket of mayonnaise using a mitten made of ham vs. Eating a bucket of frosting out of a turkey, without the use of your hands.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

you people have diseased minds.

horseshoe, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

EXXXXXTREME! But... ew.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

what are you trying to do to us

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

I hate frosting, so MAYO. If I can eat the ham mitten along with it.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

hummus hummus hummus

i can't really eat stuff like nougat anymore because of sensitive teeth, but nougat is fairly far down on my personal candy food chain anyway

get bent, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

Laurel, I understand none of that post.

horseshoe, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

Basically the only sweet I like is mint chip ice cream.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

I'll cheat on it with thin mints, choco chip cookies, and a few other specific things but really, H-D mint chip is my life in sugar.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.trouwwinkel.com/nougat.1.jpg

This came up when I searched nougat. U R Al Phreaks.

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

Honestly, I'd definitely do the left one (with a bit of hummus).

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

I am envious of you, Laurel. It wouldn't be totally unfair to describe me as a dessertatarian.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

Oh please, it's not like I'm saving calories overall when there's cheese in the world.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

And all manner of pork products.

Laurel, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

If I lean back away from the screen those look like the leading ladies from Mullholand Dr.

nickalicious, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

(xpost to Laurel) okay, that's true, but I'm also a cheese addict. If it's fatty or sugary, I want to eat it until my stomach hurts.

Pork products are an exception, but it's only because my mother always overcooked pork into something inedible.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

Cheese is a greater addiction than sweets, though I'm kind of out of control with those too. Case in point: This year I've replaced peanut butter with cheese in every context I used to eat peanut butter.

Sara - my mom never cooked pork, or allowed it in the house really, so I had a moment in a dining hall in college where I was like "What is this strange meat? It looks like chicken, but it's the wrong texture, and smells weird!" At least it wasn't ruined, though!

Maria, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

Basically the only sweet I like is peanut butter sandwiched between ritz crackers covered in chocolate.

Jordan, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

This year I've replaced peanut butter with cheese in every context I used to eat peanut butter.

ROWR!

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

what happened to you guys this afternoon

rrrobyn, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)

lol Maria. That is awesome. To be fair, whenever my husband orders pork, I'm like, hmmmm, that is really good... but I never order it myself because I just think it's going to be so tough that I can't cut it with a steak knife.

Jordan thanx a lot now I have a new addiction to try!!!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)

what happened to you guys this afternoon

Please post pics, Maria. ;-)

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)
