Bossy Anti-Virus Programmes

I wish my Norton would just go away. I paid money to NOT worry about it, not to have it guzzling memory and asking me to do this and that every few days.

Isn't there a more casual but effective anti-virus programme. I mean, I don't want viruses or spyware on my computer, but I don't lie awake at night worrying about them, nor do I feel real moral hatred for the people who make them.

There should be an anti-virus programme for people who think "Sure, I want a clean computer, but I'm never going to be voted World's Most Charitable Man. I'm just an ordinary guy".

The McAfee they installed on my work PC only rears its head when it finds something. Which is very rare, since I don't do much that's questionable on my work computer and the Exchange filter is hardcore.

Norton AV slowed my PC to a crawl. I removed it and now use AntiVir, which as a nice freeware package. One big popup a day while it does its auto-update. I use Spybot to wipe out spyware.

Free AVG just deleted "infected" dll files from my Roxio media creator without asking. Turned out to be false positives :(

mcafee is the most bothersome in my experience. Norton's bloat has rendered it unusable since 2003 or so. Used AVG for a couple years, but I've been trialing kaspersky at work and it's really great so far. no bloat, discreet...i hope it's on?

Not that this is my advice, Ronan, but I recently just got rid of mine. I decided I'd just not click on things like I Love You.exe instead. There's been one incident in my life, which involves 27 years of using computers, where this approach wouldn't have worked, and that was with the code red thing a few years ago, which was only because I was running Internet Information Server, which I doubt you are. Not to say it couldn't happen, but it was just half an evening of annoyance. I get far more annoyed by virus killers.

Going to give AntiVir a go, uninstalled AVG as it hasn't wanted to update for several weeks even after uninstalling and re-installing.

I'm the bitch you love to hate
I'm the chick that's raised the stake
I told young stunna he should switch to Bape
I'm back with an 808 'cause I'm bossy

AVG Free has never given me any problems, I have never got a virus, and it is free. I swear that these guys at Norton have offices full of programmers designing and releasing new viruses so they can sell you the next level of bloated software. Delete delete delete.
