She died of cancer at the weekend. I had no idea she was ill :-(

I love the idea of being a "muse". You never see those particular positions advertised in the Grauniad...

RIP Issy ~@:(. It was weird reading Detmar talking about everything so soon in the Obs on Sunday; I knew she was going through a very tough time but I'd no idea about the cancer until the death notices. D is my friend and I'm still scrambling to write him condolences that don't seem anodyne to me. The funeral was today.

Issy was always interested in people and their experiences; don't let the dressing-up box falsely suggest narcissism. I had to interview her for work and it was difficult to keep her on subject because she wanted to know about me and what I wanted to do; she claimed to be 'jealous' because she wanted to go to my college instead of Columbia. Later, because of his gallery, I came to know Detmar too, who is just as kind as she was, and I'm upset for him.
