NHS - "Should only provide Core Services"

[b]The NHS should only provide core services because resources are limited, leading doctors have said. [b]
The British Medical Association made the recommendation in a paper setting out its vision of the future for the NHS in England.

However, it has not specified what should not be available on the NHS.

The BMA is also calling for the NHS to be managed by an independent board to take the day-to-day running of the service away from political control.

James Johnson, BMA chairman, said there needed to be an end to 'constant political dabbling' in the NHS.



Umm, can you see the flaw in the final statement?

the BMA is presumably not "political" in the sense that MPs are. or are you saying it actually is?

More the idea of "providing core services" i.e. not the 'expensive so outsource and provide the provider with a nice profit margin" stuff...

Yeah, remove from 'political interferance' after they've basically set it as an agency into the private sector!
