The Fort Dix arrests

The affadavit provides some amusement, as the Smoking Gun summary indicates:

According to the affidavit, investigators began probing the cell last January, when a video store worker contacted them after a customer brought a DVD to be duplicated. The DVD showed 10 young men "Shooting assault weapons at a firing range in a militia-like style while calling for jihad and shouting in Arabic 'Allah Akbar' ('God is Great')."

They couldn't have just burned a DVD-R themselves?

Amazing.

You'll note the difference between the "jihadists" and VT Cho. Cho gets two guns, makes plans, doesn't tell anyone and then mows down a third of a company of people.

"Jihadists" talk each other to death and never actually accomplish anything. "Paintball is good tactical training."

I've seen enough of these affidavits to know that the primary constituent of Islamic terrorist being swept up by the FBI (and the Brits) are twentysomething ninnies -- blabbermouths who are easily infiltrated, poorly educated dumbshits even Osama bin Laden would be embarrassed to be seen with. To a person, they have only the vaguest identity with their alleged religion and love collecting Internet videos for their computers, arranging their files so as to eventually make a good evidence list for whoever winds up arresting them. They also love saying "inshallah" and then everything else in English.

One could envision making a sitcom based on such a group if the idea wouldn't be immediately drubbed out of existence by the PC enforcers.

Getting anyone to believe they, as a group, pose an existential threat to the American way of life is quite the stretch.

If they constitute an army of terrorists worldwide, they're the poorest army in the world.

ya gotta keep those bases safe:

"Between 1997 and 2001, more than 10,000 cases of spouse abuse per year occurred in the armed forces, including 114 homicides.[5] These numbers are likely a large underestimate, as the military does not usually count intimate partners, such as girlfriends, as domestic abuse victims.[5] Another report alleges 218 domestic murders in the US military between 1995 and 2004.[23] In a sample of 616 active duty military women, 22% reported physical abuse and/or sexual assault while in the service.[24] A 2004 Pentagon survey of the 3 military academies revealed that 1 in 7 female cadets said she had been a victim of sexual abuse -- ranging from unwanted advances to rape -- during the previous 5 years. Only a third of the incidents were reported."

Okay wait I know this sounds funny but isn't 1 in 7 women a lower rate than the general population? I thought numbers for the rest of us were like 1 in 3...

Basically, if I were Chris Morris, I'd call the show "Inshallah." He obviously can take script material from the actual news, have pieces on the twentysomething jihadists trying to make bombs from chapati flour or smoke detectors.
